I don’t have it all together… not even close...

I still have days where I’m overwhelmed, snappy, overthinking everything…

where I fall out of my routines, question myself, or feel completely off.

I still catch old patterns creeping in.
I still avoid things sometimes.
I still have moments where I know better… and don’t do better.

That hasn’t magically gone away.

But what has changed is this:

I don’t stay stuck there like I used to.
Because I have something to come back to.

Not a perfect routine.
Not one tool that fixes everything.

But a framework that helps me recalibrate—again and again.

✨ Resources – coming back to the basics when life starts to feel shaky
✨ Regulation – recognising when my nervous system is running the show and knowing how to support it
✨ Revise – getting honest about what’s actually being triggered underneath the surface
✨ Rewrite – choosing to shift the story, the response, the way I relate to it
✨ Resilience – taking those insights back into my life, my relationships, my boundaries

Some days I move through that with awareness.

Other days I realise halfway through a spiral…
and have to gently pull myself back.

That’s the work.
Not being perfect.
Not being “healed.”

But being willing to notice, adjust, and come back—over and over again.

This is what I live.

And it’s the foundation of what I offer.

TRE (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) — Now Online & In Person

Whether you prefer being in a room with others or the comfort of your own space, you can now join my weekly TRE classes in a way that works for you.

So… what actually is TRE?

TRE is a simple, body-based practice that activates your body’s natural tremor response.
And no — it’s not something you force.
It’s something your body already knows how to do.

These gentle tremors help release stored stress, tension, and trauma from the muscles and fascia — the stuff we often don’t even realise we’re holding onto.

When the body gets the chance to “shake it out” safely, the nervous system can begin to settle…back into calm, balance, and a sense of safety.

What people often notice:
* Less physical tension and chronic stress
* A calmer, more regulated nervous system
* Better sleep and deeper rest
* Feeling more grounded, resilient, and like themselves again

These bodies probably look weird… but this is what your body does when it finally feels safe enough to let go.

I recently spent the weekend in Brisbane at an advanced TRE facilitator training… and it was pretty special, to say the least.

It reminded me of something I see over and over again — no matter how long you’ve been doing this work, what becomes possible when you have space held for you by someone truly present and attuned… is next level.

Not because they’re doing something to you.
But because they’re with you.

And that’s something most of us aren’t used to.
We’re used to pushing through.

Thinking our way out.
Trying to fix or figure ourselves out.
But the body doesn’t work like that.

A big theme of the weekend was rhythm and power. And the power didn’t come from effort…
it came from something much more instinctive.

Pandiculation — that natural lengthening and contracting in the body (like the stretch you do when you wake up).

In TRE, this happens spontaneously through the tremors.And instead of trying to stop the tension…we gently leaned further into it.
Which might sound backwards — but this is where things shift.

Through these subtle, rhythmic movements — stretching, contracting, unwinding through the fascia — the body begins to reorganise itself.

Not through thinking.
Not through analysing.
Not even through emotion.

This actually goes beyond emotion.

Into something more primal.

A deeper layer of the nervous system that doesn’t need a story to resolve.

And there was no big, dramatic release.
No cathartic outburst.

Just a quiet sense of…
“that’s it.”

A completion.
A shift.
A reorganisation.

And this is the part I think people don’t expect…
It’s not about forcing anything out of the body.
It’s about allowing the body to finish what it started — often years ago.

Most of us have spent our lives bracing against discomfort.

Tensing. Distracting. Overriding.

So learning how to safely lean in and let the body lead…can feel unfamiliar at first.

But it’s also where the real power is.

TRE isn’t a quick fix.

It’s not going to magically resolve everything in one session or weekend.

But it is something you can come back to, again and again, for the rest of your life.

To release.
To regulate.
To reconnect.

And to keep moving forward — without carrying everything with you.

📣 TRE Class Update – New Venue & Day
There are a couple of changes coming to our weekly TRE (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) class in Mapleton.

Firstly, Wild Yoga Studio will sadly be closing its doors. I want to say a big thank you to Abigail for creating such a beautiful space for the community. While it’s sad to see it close, I’m also excited for what her next chapter holds.

The good news is that TRE classes will continue, just with a new venue and a slight change of day.

Most people are trying to build confidence, purpose, and self-actualisation while their nervous system is still living in survival mode.

According to Abraham Maslow, human needs develop in layers — from the ground up.

And when you look closely, this is the same sequence my 5-step Resilience process follows.

🧱 Physiological needs & safety
→ RESOURCE
We begin by establishing safety, support, and capacity — both internal and external.
This is about meeting basic needs, reducing overwhelm, and giving the system something solid to stand on.

🧱 Safety & stability
→ REGULATE
Next, we support the nervous system to settle.
Regulation restores choice, reduces reactivity, and creates enough stability for deeper work.

🧱 Love, belonging & connection
→ REVISE
Here we gently explore how past experiences — including trauma and attachment patterns — shaped the way we relate to ourselves and others.

🧱 Self-esteem & agency
→ REWRITE
With safety and understanding in place, we begin forming new beliefs, boundaries, and responses that are embodied, not forced.

🧱 Self-actualisation
→ RESILIENCE
Not as hustle or “pushing through,” but as flexibility, self-trust, and the ability to adapt without losing yourself.

A new year always feels like a soft reset.
Not a demand to become someone new — but an invitation to come back to yourself.

Meet Crystal — Holistic Counsellor & Somatic Practitioner

At Hinterland Health Retreat, we’re proud to have a team of practitioners who bring together the best of science, spirit, and heart. One of those incredible people is Crystal Morris.

Crystal is a qualified Holistic Counsellor whose passion lies in therapy that not only works — but deeply empowers. She blends the science of psychology, neuroscience, and somatic psychotherapy with principles from quantum physics, energy work, and phenomenology. The result? A truly integrative experience that supports the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.

Her training is both rich and specialised, including:
– Diploma in Holistic Counselling
– Certificate in Somatic Attachment Theory
– Somatic Stress Release Practitioner Certification

Building Resilience - A Holistic Approach

Over the years, I’ve noticed something powerful in my work with clients:
True resilience isn’t built in a single breakthrough moment — it’s built step by step.

Through my own journey and years of supporting others, I’ve discovered that building lasting mental and emotional resilience follows a 5-step process.

But here’s the thing — most mainstream mental health approaches focus almost entirely on Step 3 & 4:
🌀 Revising the past – digging into childhood experiences, traumas, and patterns
🌀 Rewriting the story – reframing beliefs and behaviors

And while these are incredibly valuable steps, they often don’t work as well unless we’ve already done the groundwork of Step 1 & 2:

1️⃣ Resources – Creating a foundation of safety, supportive habits, and practical tools
2️⃣ Regulation – Learning to move through triggers and big emotions without becoming stuck or overwhelmed

Without these, therapy can feel destabilizing — like opening the floodgates without having a boat to hold onto.

That’s why I created my Resilience Program: to guide clients through all five steps, in order, so healing feels grounded, sustainable, and empowering.

Here’s the full framework:
1️⃣ Resources – Build your personal toolkit of daily supports
2️⃣ Regulation – Learn how to calm and reset your nervous system
3️⃣ Revise – Make sense of the past and find meaning in your experiences
4️⃣ Rewrite – Shift old patterns, beliefs, and stories into empowering ones
5️⃣ Resilience – Bring it all into your daily life: set boundaries, communicate clearly, and align with your values and purpose

And this isn’t a “tick the box and you’re done” process — it’s a cycle you can return to throughout your life as new challenges arise, growing stronger each time.
