Skate Advantage recently hit the Gold Coast Disability Expo, and we were lucky enough to share our story with an incredible crowd.
I even took to the stage using my Tobii Dynavox TDI 13 to talk about my skateboarding journey, how skateboarding has shaped my identity, and why inclusion belongs everywhere, including skateparks.

The vibe was electric, the message was powerful.

This is my eye-gaze device, the Tobii Dynavox TD I-13 👀

I use my eyes to control the screen, type, communicate, learn and explore the world.

For me it’s more than technology.
It’s my voice, my independence and my connection to everything around me.

Technology like this allows people who can’t speak to still share their thoughts, ideas and personality with the world.

After my presentation at QUT, I invited everyone to try my eye-gaze technology — and they were all so keen to give it a go. Some people picked it up surprisingly fast, but everyone had fun stepping into my world and experiencing how I communicate every day.

I recently presented at the QUT Inclusive Education conference, and during the breaks people lined up to try my eye gaze device.

It was so cool watching people experience how I communicate and learn about AAC.

AAC isn’t one size fits all. It can be eye gaze, sign language, symbols, an iPad, communication boards, or facilitated touch.

Communication looks different for everyone and that’s the point. Every voice deserves to be heard.
