Drawing grips I’m loving 🎨

Little Warrior Shields have kindly donated these 3D-printed pencil, texta and paintbrush grips for me to try and I have to say, they’re pretty awesome! 🙌

My TD i13 eye-gaze device helps me communicate, but it also gives me choice and control in so many other parts of my life, including shopping online. 😍

And sometimes, that means I get a silly idea in my head... and before you know it, I’m online purchasing matching Snuggles onesies.😆

Seriously though, these are so comfy it’s hard to get out of them! How silly and cute do we look?🫠

I love that my eye-gaze gives me the independence to turn my random ideas into reality, and luckily Jesse is always along for the ride!🙃🥸

Here’s how I built a custom UNO folder on my Tobii Dynavox TD Talk. 💬

Step-by-Step Instructions: 🔴🔵🟡🟢

STEP 1. Open TD Talk: Start from your main desk/home screen.

STEP 2. Access Settings: Select the General button in the top-left corner, then choose Edit.

Next, select the pencil icon. This will take you to the Topics Menu & Quick Message page.

STEP 3. Create a New Topic: Navigate to the Topics menu and select Create.

STEP 4. Name Your Page: Type “UNO” as the title, then tap Save using the floppy disk icon.

STEP 5. Edit the Layout: Select the pencil and file icon to start customising your new topic, then click Add New.

STEP 6. Add Your Top Actions: Place your most-used phrases at the top for quick access.

For UNO, my top four are:

🔴 UNO! 😉
🔵 Pick up
🟡 Skip
🟢 Reverse ⏪

STEP 7. Add Secondary Actions & Banter: Below your main buttons, add the rest of your game vocabulary.

And don't forget playful banter and trash talk - it's UNO after all! 😆

Pacific Airshow flying out on the Gold Coast!

This year, I was really happy to see the BMX demos moved onto the grass area, making them much more accessible for wheelchair users and people with mobility challenges. It was great to see accessibility being considered here.

BUT… unfortunately, there was still a gap when it came to some of the other experiences. Throughout the main Pacific Airshow area were stalls and activities like virtual reality, photo booths, and other experiences. Unfortunately, many had a significant step down to enter, with no ramp access. For someone using a wheelchair, that meant I simply missed out.

That’s the frustrating part. I had purchased a ticket to attend the same event as everyone else, but my ticket didn’t give me the same access or experience because accessibility hadn’t been considered across all areas. I know I wasn’t the only wheelchair user at Pacific Airshow, so I hope next year accessibility is given greater consideration.

Because inclusion isn’t just about getting through the gate. It’s about being able to experience the event once you’re inside 😀♿❤️

With the touch of a button, I can elevate myself, and suddenly everything looks a whole lot different! ♿
Life's better when you can rise up... literally.
No more looking at the backs of people's heads at concerts, clear vision at sporting events, elevating my chair at a bar table, and I can go up to or close to someone's eye level when chatting. 👀 level thanks to this cool feature on my Amylior power chair.

Yesterday I was one of the first wheelchair users to ride the new Gold Coast tram from Broadbeach to Burleigh with MP Ray Stevens. 🚊♿️

The step-free access made getting on and off so easy, and this new connection means more freedom, independence and access to our beautiful Gold Coast.

The TransLink staff were helpful and the wheelchair height buttons help alert the driver to ensure you have time getting on & off.

For people with disabilities, accessible transport isn’t just about getting somewhere, it’s about being able to participate.

Gold Coast, you’re rolling in the right direction! 💜🚊♿️💜
