🍏 For Abdominal Scans (Liver, Gallbladder): You will usually need to fast (no food or drink except water) for 6 hours prior to ensure clear images.
👕 What to wear: Choose loose, comfortable clothing. Depending on the area being scanned (like a shoulder or knee), we may need easy access to the joint.

A bulk bill ultrasound vs a private scan, what do they cover?

With a valid referral, a bulk bill means you pay nothing out of pocket. On the other hand, a private ultrasound is one you pay in full, perhaps your referral doesn't meet the requirements for bulk billing, or it isn't covered by medicare.

What is DVT and what does an ultrasound reveal?

DVT, or deep vein thrombosis, is a blood clot that forms in one of the deep veins, usually in the calf or thigh. It is diagnosed with a duplex ultrasound, a painless scan that uses sound waves to check blood flow and locate the clot.
