SWOPmale This is the page of the Male Project of SWOP NSW. SWOP promotes the health, safety and wellbeing of sex industry workers.

SWOP provides sexual health information and support to people who engage in sex work. We run a variety of health programs and provide outreach to sex industry workplaces. We also work with sex industry owners and operators to encourage the acceptance and maintenance of safe sex practices, and other forms of workplace health and safety. SWOP provides more than just health information. We have a wide-reaching team of specialists and sex industry peers. This includes female, male and transgender outreach workers; a multicultural team supporting sex workers from non-English speaking backgrounds; a counsellor; and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander outreach worker. All team members outreach to both metro and regional NSW. SWOP works with NSW sex workers, management and their clients. We endeavour to make our programs and services appropriate for sex workers from a diverse range of backgrounds with particular regard to gender, culture, language and age. We also work with other people who participate in sex for favours, cash, drugs, clothing, a place to stay, alcohol or anything else, either often, or on occasion. Some of the people we work with may not identify as being part of the sex industry. DISCLAIMER: Hyperlinks to external websites posted on SWOPmale's page does not constitute endorsement. Are you feeling the effects of isolation and loneliness in your life or at work? What would it be like to talk about it with a group of people who could be experiencing something similar?

**This Wednesday**

Come and spend a couple of hours with SWOP counsellors Rachael and Suzanne to talk about togetherness, isolation, loneliness and connection.

When we feel disconnected, it isn't always due to something coming from the inside. Sometimes there are conditions in our lives that we can create strategies for.

Let's find some together.

We’ll spend our time journalling, having a yarn (chats, not stitch), doing activities and sharing ideas.

October is Mental Health Month. In NSW, this year’s theme is “A little connection goes a long way.” But connection can be complicated in our working world. Which is a little bit ironic come to think of it, given our work is all about making connection!

But isolation doesn’t always look like an absence of connection or sitting at home alone. You can be working, talking, working, working it, texting, seeing people all the time and still feel disconnected. And sometimes the answer isn’t simply to get out more.

So, for Mental Health Month, we’re going to be talking about the things that can construct isolation around us, and what might actually help.

SWOP NSW counsellors Rachael and Suzanne will be holding a workshop on Isolation + Loneliness this Wednesday 14 October.
It will include discussion, journalling, activities, information and skill sharing, in a group - together, not alone!

Current and former s*x workers only. Registration required (link in bio).

Our SMART Recovery meeting is on today from 3pm-4.30pm. Making changes around drugs and alcohol can be tricky to do on your own. So, we run a SMART Recovery meeting each month for SWers, run by peers. If you have any habits you'd like to change your relationship to, come along. We set our own goals and move at your own pace. We just provide support for you on the journey. You can register via the link in bio.
