Hi everyone;
Recently I posted the question what does Wellness mean to you?
Personally, I avoided the word for some time as it has grown to the 3rd largest (billions of dollars) industry mostly working on fear of aging or getting sick. Kind of a soft medication with wellness drugs, supplements, vitamins, teas and wellness patches and on and on the list goes.
No, I thought, I don’t want to be part of this band wagon… just another money-making word to pray on potential clients.
So, what is wellness to me?
As I love the discussion, I went just this week to a talk Elke Cryer gave.
I really resonated with Elke’s presentation and Rudolf Steiner’s view on wellness:
Peace of heart
Harmony of soul
Health of body
Clarity of spirit
Hopeful thinking
… so far all of the above can be experienced in retreats and e.g. last wise women’s gathering… but what then?
How to maintain and not fall into the hole after any retreat or gathering?
That is that hardest to achieve and the biggest on Steiner’s list:
Patience and strength of will – or Elke’s take:
The will to be well!!
What does it mean?
The will to walk your talk, the will to follow through with healthy eating habits, the will of dropping overconsumption of treats and coffee and so forth.
The question remains – how do we strengthening our will so everything else is coming at a breeze? Or is it, coming at a breeze?
What if our will then is punishing as we may suddenly begin to police and judge ourselves:
Oh no I had a second coffee – that’s bad!
Rather than guilt tripping the question would be: why did I wanted that second cup so badly… what is the experience or longing behind it?
That’s where it’s getting interesting:
We mostly know exactly what is good for us and jet easily ignoring it – call it addictions?
Addicted to a lifestyle, addicted to a fear of becoming sick or looking older than I should.
Addicted to sports, work, … is addiction the concept we are looking for?
Diving deeper and deeper – the mind of an explorer unearthing the will to be well, under which umbrella is it hiding in my life, who within myself is boycotting my will and make me trip over again and again? As an extreme question:
Is this my personal battle of good vs evil? Allowing others to decide what I need – which supplement, which vitamin pill or patch… or can I make up my mind to live well all by myself, through deep listening to my body, mind and soul, following the clarity of my spirit? Don’t get me wrong – I do sometimes see an herbalist and ask for advice – of course falling out of balance isn’t the issue, happens all the time, so yes seeking support isn’t yet another judgment of bad or failure, I believe it’s deeply human and learning from one another is wonderful, we are not meant to know it all, another overused word preying on lonely people: community, with people of all kinds of insights and strength are sharing their gifts (a different discussion to have) Back to this topic:
This dark moon has supportive energies to light up with sudden insights and I invite you to join me on the dark moon meditation this Sunday and I Also invite to meet earlier on an online platform to discuss the will to be well as it might be your very own support allowing to diving deeper into the meditation.
