I brought my brother home
without the medicines that usually stand between him and risk,
because this time, waiting was the safer choice.

A brain, still healing.
Blood that must be watched, not pushed.
Fear, sitting beside me in the car.

No guarantees.
Just vigilance.
Just love.
Jusbreatheth.And then a number plate in front of me —
letters rearranged into meaning
because my heart needed somewhere to rest.

Yes.
Helen.
Good.

Not a sign.
Not certainty.
Just a moment saying:
You are allowed to keep going.

So I did.
Slowly.
Carefully.
All the way home.

We are measuring children aged 14 and over so we can knit warm jackets and jumpers for winter.
