Trauma doesn’t just shape how we feel about ourselves, it shapes how we relate to others.

It can show up as difficulty trusting, fear of vulnerability, feeling drawn to unhealthy dynamics, or overgiving to earn love.

These patterns aren’t flaws. They’re survival strategies your nervous system learned to keep you safe.

And the good news? What’s been learned can be unlearned. With safe relationships and support, we can begin to experience connection in a new way.

With care,
Sammy and The Still Space Team ♥️

Answering a couple of common questions we get here at The Still Space 👇

"Do you see children under NDIS?"
"Will we get updates about our child?"

I hope this helps.

Melissa and I would love to welcome your child. Feel free to book a complimentary connection call to discuss our services and see who may be the right fit for your child.

With care,
Sammy and The Still Space Team ✨️♥️

Some seasons of life change us.

Sometimes it's the loss of someone we love. Sometimes it's becoming a parent, a health diagnosis, watching your child struggle, a relationship ending, work feeling relentless, or simply waking up one day and realising you don't quite feel like yourself anymore.

At The Still Space, we're a boutique counselling and psychotherapy practice built on a simple belief, everyone deserves a soft place to land during life's hardest moments.

But more than that, we believe in therapy done differently.

Not a cold, clinical office where you feel like another appointment in the diary.

A space that feels warm, welcoming and deeply human. A space that feels like a second home. Somewhere you can slow down, be yourself, make sense of what's happening and leave feeling just a little lighter than when you arrived.

✨ We're currently welcoming new clients.

Our team includes:

✨️ Sammy, supporting adults and children through trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, burnout, PTSD and emotional wellbeing.

✨️ Melissa, supporting children with ADHD, autism, PDA, anxiety, school refusal and emotional regulation challenges.

✨️ Mira (Australia-wide via telehealth), supporting adults through grief, trauma, anxiety, chronic illness, cancer and caring responsibilities.

Whether you're looking for support for yourself or your child, we'd be honoured to welcome you into our space.

📍 Face-to-face in Engadine
💻 Australia-wide via telehealth

This evening, I had the privilege of attending the Local Business Awards as a finalist in the Health Improvement category.

As you can imagine, this is a huge category across the entire Sutherland Shire. Simply being named a finalist is an achievement I'm incredibly proud of.

The Still Space didn't take home the award this year, but we were in the room. And to me, that's what matters most.

I never attend these awards for me. I attend them for mental health. Because every opportunity to have conversations about mental health in rooms full of business leaders, community members and decision-makers matters. And I'll keep showing up and talking about it, because I know the difference it can make.

I truly believe that everyone, no matter their age or stage of life, deserves to feel heard, seen, supported and understood and that we need to keep breaking down barriers to make that possible for all human beings.

To my wonderful, deeply courageous clients, thank you.

Without you pressing that button to book an appointment, picking up the phone to reach out, trusting us with your story, or recommending The Still Space to someone you care about, there is no practice.

It is your courage to step into your own inner world that allows me, and my wonderful team, to do this work every single day. It is a privilege we never take for granted.

And, finally to my always supportive Mum thank you for being my plus one tonight, I love you. 😘

With care,
Sammy ♥️

When you jumping into the Mediterranean looks like AI. 😝

Can confirm, this is actually me.

But it did get me thinking about something.

How often do we wait for life to happen to us?

We wait until we're more confident.
Until we have more time.
Until we feel ready.
Until someone gives us permission.

We tell ourselves our dreams are too big, our goals aren't realistic, or that perhaps we're just not worthy of the life we imagine.

But what if you jumped in anyway?

What if you took the trip?
Started the business?
Applied for the course?
Ended the relationship that no longer feels right?
Finally made yourself a priority?

What if therapy wasn't just for those moments when life feels like it's falling apart?

What if it became the diving board that helped you jump into the life you've been longing for?

A place to rediscover who you are in this season of your life.

To reconnect with what matters most and gain clarity on your purpose, values and passions.

To have someone non-judgmentally keeping you accountable to the goals and changes you want to make.

To celebrate your wins with someone who genuinely cares.

Or simply to have a confidential space where you can unpack your week and be completely yourself.

Therapy isn't only for times of crisis.

It can become an anchor for everyday life.

A place that helps you build confidence, move through uncertainty and create a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are.

You don't have to wait until everything feels too much before reaching out.

Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is simply jump.

With care,

Sammy and The Still Space Team ♥️

The Google search... I get it. 😬

Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming.

You spend hours searching online, reading profiles, comparing websites, wondering who's actually the right fit for you.

Or maybe you're not even sure if therapy is what you need right now.

And if you've found The Still Space, you might be wondering which of our practitioners would be the best fit for your story.

That's exactly why I've introduced our free 10-minute Connection Call.

It's a chance to have a relaxed chat with me, Sammy. 🫶

You can tell me a little about what's been happening, ask any questions you have, and together we'll explore whether therapy feels right for you and, if so, which of our practitioners is the best fit for your needs.

No pressure. No obligation. Just a genuine conversation to help you take the next step with confidence.

Sometimes, the hardest part is simply knowing where to begin. We're here to make that first step feel a little easier.

With care,
Sammy and The Still Space Team ♥️

"Boom. Crash."

This is how a young client once described his inner world.

When we first met, he had very few words available to express what he was experiencing after significant trauma.

For many of our early sessions together, he didn't say a single word.

That didn't mean he wasn't engaged.

It didn't mean he wasn't feeling.

It didn't mean he had nothing to say.

He simply didn't have the words yet.

That's where play and art became so powerful.

They offered another way to communicate when spoken language wasn't available.

In fact, we didn't discover "boom, crash" through conversation or by trying to find the right vocabulary. We discovered it through art. It was only after he had expressed what was happening inside on canvas that the words began to follow.

Today, our sessions are filled with more words than they once were, and they continue to grow.

But what matters most isn't how much he speaks.

It's that together we've discovered a shared language through play, art and connection. A language that allows feelings to be expressed long before they can be spoken.

It's a beautiful reminder that children don't always need more questions. Sometimes they simply need a safe space, caring connection, and creative ways to express what words cannot.

With care,
Sammy ♥️
