As part of Men’s Health week and in Partnership with a fabulous charity organisation called Heartbeat of Football - I had the privilege of giving a 1 hour nutrition seminar to Kuringai Council on nutrition 4 heart health ā¤ļø. As I explained to the Council employees it is never to early or too late to take preventative action to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. Focus on the basics- sleep-+ balanced diet + exercise but also visit your GP for a heart health assessment .

**āš ļø Think Before You Drink**

I’m seeing too many young athletes using energy drinks to fuel training.

āŒ **Too much caffeine** – can cause jitters, anxiety and a racing heart.
😓 **Poor sleep** – impacts recovery, mood, concentration and performance.
šŸ **High sugar** – can contribute to tooth decay and unwanted weight gain.

šŸ’” Real energy comes from good sleep, regular meals, proper hydration and smart sports nutrition.

šŸ‘Øā€āš•ļø Men’s Health Week – Time to Check In on Your Health

Research consistently shows that men are less likely than women to visit their GP regularly or seek help early when health concerns arise.

This Men’s Health Week, encourage the important men in your life to take a proactive approach to their health. Whether it’s addressing an ongoing health concern, booking an annual health check, or having routine blood tests, small actions today can make a significant difference tomorrow.

ā¤ļø Heart disease remains one of the leading health issues affecting Australian men, yet many risk factors can be identified and managed early through regular health checks.

Whether you’re 18 or 80, it’s never too early—or too late—to stop, think and act when it comes to your health.

Portion sizes matter! I encourage my clients not to cut out food groups but manipulate portion sizes depending on age / gender / energy expenditure and health goals. Here is an example using cooked rice. 24 year old active son playing basketball comp tomorrow =1.5 cups rice. 56 year old husband doing moderate exercise = 1 cup of rice. 55 year old mum doing moderate exercise = 1/4 cup which is technically one serve. Don’t miss out! All food is to be enjoyed just manipulate portions !

Fantastic afternoon making a Mediterranean feast with Nikki and Grace from . We made eggplant and caponata toast / ancient grain salad with green goddess dressing and herb crusted salmon with poached peaches, crumble and labneh for dessert. It was so much fun and totally delicious food. I will definitely be repeating this!

Have you seen the new MANGOSTEEN fruit on your supermarket shelf? It is a tropical fruit with a slightly sweet and sour taste originally from South East Asia. These little things pack a nutritious punch - high in Vit C and Vit B1/ B2/B9 also high in fibre and antioxidants. Definitely worth a try!!!
