๐Ÿ’ก Pregnancy Myth or Fact?

โŒ Myth: "You shouldn't exercise while pregnant."

In most uncomplicated pregnancies, regular physical activity is not only safe but is recommended by healthcare professionals. Evidence shows that appropriate exercise during pregnancy can support maternal wellbeing, improve fitness, reduce pregnancy-related discomforts, and may help lower the risk of certain pregnancy complications.

Of course, every pregnancy is unique, and exercise recommendations should always be tailored to your individual circumstances and discussed with your healthcare provider.

๐Ÿ’ก Did You Know?

Folic acid plays a vital role in early pregnancy and is one of the most important supplements to take when planning a pregnancy.

Adequate folic acid intake before conception and during early pregnancy significantly reduces the risk of neural tube defects, including conditions that affect the baby's brain, spine, and spinal cord. These critical structures begin developing in the earliest weeks of pregnancy, often before a woman knows she is pregnant.

For this reason, women who are planning a pregnancy are recommended to commence folic acid supplementation at least one month before conception and continue throughout early pregnancy, or as advised by their healthcare provider.

Preparing for a healthy pregnancy starts before conception, and folic acid is a simple but important step in supporting your baby's early development. ๐Ÿ’™

How do you know if your period is heavier than normal? ๐Ÿค”

Heavy menstrual bleeding is more than just an inconvenience, it can affect your daily activities, energy levels, and overall wellbeing.

Signs that your bleeding may warrant medical assessment include:

โœ” Soaking through a pad or tampon every 1โ€“2 hours
โœ” Passing large blood clots
โœ” Periods lasting longer than 7 days
โœ” Pelvic pain or menstrual cramps severe enough to interfere with daily activities
โœ” Feeling unusually tired, weak, dizzy, or short of breath, which may indicate iron deficiency

While heavy periods are common, they are not always normal. Conditions such as fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, hormonal imbalances, bleeding disorders, and other gynaecological conditions can contribute to excessive menstrual bleeding.

If your periods are affecting your quality of life, it is important to seek medical advice. Early assessment can help identify the underlying cause and ensure you receive appropriate treatment and support. ๐Ÿ’™

Too often, women are told that painful, heavy, irregular, or disruptive periods are โ€œjust normal.โ€
In reality, these symptoms may be linked to conditions such as endometriosis, PMOS (previously known as PCOS), hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, or other underlying health concerns.
Your symptoms are important. Early assessment can lead to earlier diagnosis, effective treatment, and better long-term health outcomes.
Don't ignore what your body is trying to tell you. It deserves to be heard. ๐Ÿ’™

Infertility is often surrounded by myths, assumptions, and misinformation โ€” but understanding the facts is an important first step toward support and care. ๐Ÿ’š

Fertility challenges can affect both women and men, and every journey is unique. In many cases, infertility is a medical condition with a range of possible causes, not a reflection of personal failure or something to feel ashamed about. โœจ

Seeking early medical advice and evidence-based care can help identify underlying factors, provide clarity, and improve the range of available treatment options. Knowledge, support, and compassionate care can make a meaningful difference throughout the fertility journey. ๐Ÿค

Feeling extra hungry while breastfeeding? ๐Ÿคฑ๐Ÿ’—
Thatโ€™s completely normal. Breastfeeding increases your bodyโ€™s energy and nutritional needs as it works hard to produce milk and nourish your baby. โœจ
During this stage, your body may need extra calories, fluids, and key nutrients to support both you and your baby. Balanced meals, healthy snacks, and staying well hydrated can help maintain your energy levels and overall wellbeing. ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ง
Remember โ€” caring for yourself is an important part of caring for your baby, too. ๐Ÿค
