There are many benefits to journaling. Not only can it be a great way to externalise your thoughts and feelings but it can help you to make sense of a situation and provide clarity. It is a great way to check in with yourself which ultimately improves your level of self awareness.

You can use it in so many ways including general reflections on how your day or life has been, your general thoughts and feelings or problems that you are struggling with.

Here are sone journaling prompts that you can use:
- How am I feeling? Why do I feel this way?
- How do I feel about life at the moment?
- What has been going well or what hasn't been going well so far?
- What are my thoughts and feelings on this situation?
- What am I struggling with or internally conflicted about?
- What do these different parts of me say about this issue?
- What are my options? What can I do?
- What are three things I am grateful for?
- What have I done well?
- What are my achievements?
- What has worked well so far? What do I want to do more of?

Many people often feel better after journaling, as your mind can freely release these thoughts instead of holding onto it in ones mind.

Happy journaling!

Anxiety can be masked in different ways and sometimes it can manifest as over functioning.

It doesn't help that our culture praises overly high functioning behaviour like perfectionism, over achieving or 'hustling'. Busyness is being seen with a badge of honour. When this is driven by anxiety and self worth is based on productivity and achievement, reaching goals at the expense of your wellbeing and rest, this can become an issue.

It becomes almost a perpetual vicious cycle, where anxiety drives high functioning behaviour which then exacerbates anxiety.

We cannot deny that the world is changing fast, influencing the way that we access mental health services and support.

An abundance of research evidence indicates that Telehealth Psychology is equally as effective as face to face treatment.

Many benefits include increased access to support, convenience and cost effectiveness, increased comfort and confidentiality.

Telehealth Psychology also assists with overcoming barriers to accessing support including those with mobility issues, mental health struggles with leaving the house or around accessing f2f support and those with geographical barriers.

Allow your emotions to fully run its course.

We know from research that emotions if allowed to fully run its course only lasts for 90 seconds. Often it doesn’t feel like this, because we do not allow ourselves to lean into and sit with the emotional experience to process and move through it but rather engage in processes that amplify the emotional charge e.g pushing away the emotion or ruminating about thoughts and the emotion.

So what does it mean to lean into emotions:
- Pause and take your awareness internally
- Identify what emotion you are feeling (e.g I am noticing heart racing, clenching my fists, racing thoughts)
- Label the emotion (e.g I am feeling angry)
- Allow and accept the emotions/physical sensations as it rises and falls. Breathe into the emotion/sensation and create space for it without judging or evaluating the experience.

Emotions are like waves you see at the beach. Goes up but eventually goes down naturally without having to push it away. Emotions are neither good or bad, they are just information and signals your body is trying to tell you.

We often think of self care in terms of buying ourselves something nice, spoiling ourselves with a massage or doing our nails, or physical health with exercising. Although self care can encompass this, it is a lot more than this.

Think of yourself and caring for yourself holistically - including your physical, social, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs.

Self care can include trying to meet your emotional needs, setting boundaries, saying no, asking for help or speaking up and not trying to do everything yourself, meditating, journaling, self reflection etc.

What aspects of self care do you want to try or do more for yourself?

When you have the thought, "They are judging me because of x, y, z", a few important things to reflect on are, "Are they really judging me, or am I judging myself? Am I also evaluating them and drawing the conclusion about what they think of me on a particular matter?"

If you are judging yourself, how can you talk to yourself more compassionately, and accept/love yourself unconditionally?
