So much professional development is about something else… knowledge of outward things, skills in association with them. While we are all in this relationship with life… and it helps to have sound knowledge of everything outside of us, as it helps us with what we’re working with, we sometimes miss the point.

Everything outside of your awareness is the object of your attention. It’s something else. The real subject, is you. Where you’re working, living and relating from.

This TheNatureofSuccess workshop at Soma, Byron Bay with Modus Property , was about the people, as individuals.

Since what you bring to the World, you bring from within, the focus was on self awareness, self mastery and our most powerful asset, the human mind.

It’s encouraging to see progressive companies start to see the value in this inside out perspective on peak performance and quality living.

The pressure loop leaders get stuck in.
talks about the pattern leaders can get into under pressure.
Something happens.
Pressure hits.
So they push harder.
Try to control more.
Think more.
Do more.
But instead of creating clarity…
It creates tension.
More tension creates more pressure.
And the loop continues.
Here’s the truth:
It’s not the pressure that hurts us most.
It’s the pattern that follows.
This week, reflect on this:
What’s your default response when pressure shows up?
Next time it happens:
Notice your reaction.
Pause.
Choose a different way of being.
Calm.
Open.
Grounded.
Then respond from that state.

Most people understand the importance of training to improve but most focus only on the chemistry or 2nd point I.e exercise, eat well, develop skills and knowledge to be better at your craft or look good etc

It’s international coaching week.

Imagine where we would be in life, if it wasn’t for some of the help we have had along the way.

The ones that inspire a sense of meaning and purpose. That see our potential and help bring it out. That help us to see the path and develop the courage to follow it. That hold up the mirror, so that we may see ourselves more clearly and be ourselves more genuinely. They inspire and motivate us, to not only do better, but more importantly, to be better, as people. They provide wise council and ultimately, help us find that light inside, so we can rise and shine in our own unique way.

Take a moment to celebrate those that have helped you along your way and if you’ve been one of those, in any shape or form, feel good about being an addition in someone’s life. 🙏

The hidden cost of always being “on”.
Most people don’t realise they never actually switch off
Even when work stops
The mind keeps going
Thinking ahead
Replaying conversations
Trying to stay in control
It feels like focus
But it’s actually pressure
Over time that becomes your normal
If your mind never settles
You never really reset.
When does your mind struggle to switch off?
⁉️ What are you half keeping on your mind right now? Can it wait until you have space, clarity and time to solve the problem well. Worth pondering.

There’s a moment I often notice in leaders…�Right before things start to feel like too much.
They’re capable.�Driven.�Performing well on the outside.
But underneath it all…�Their mind never stops.
Always thinking ahead.�Holding pressure.�Managing expectations.�Trying to stay on top of everything.
And because they’re functioning…�They don’t always notice the strain.�It just becomes their normal.
Until the pressure turns into overwhelm.�Exhaustion.�Disconnection.
What I’ve learned is this:�Burnout doesn’t usually come from doing too much.
It comes from never stepping out of the mental pressure you’re carrying.
So here’s something to reflect on this week:�Where are you holding pressure without even realising it?
Before your next conversation, meeting, or task:
Pause.�Notice your state.
Then consciously choose how you want to be.�Calm.�Present.�Open.
And enter the situation from that state — not from pressure.

Great teams are fortunate enough to have great leaders… someone worth following.

Someone that inspires their team to be better people as much as professionals. They are self aware, authentic. They are visionaries, they care about people and create a culture that is inclusive, empowering, diverse, collaborative, healthy and conducive of growth. They align individuals towards the common goal, they believe in them, see the best and promote the best, giving them the support that empowers confidence and self belief. They don’t pick on what’s wrong, they promote what’s right. They are self aware, perceptive, fearless … and lead by example.

Such a leader is

At The Nature of Success, we work with leaders every day, but in all our years of coaching these leaders 1-1, Dave is perhaps the most abstract, perceptive, caring and fearless of them all. He earned the nickname “the maverick” because he didn’t follow the norm. He could see for himself how to create and support a team to greater success… and the proof is in the pudding.

In his time at Cisco, he not only took IOT and AppDy to massive heights, he did it in a way that made people feel good about who they are, not just what they do. Having coached him and his senior leadership team too, saw firsthand, the huge and harmonious effect that he had on people. They loved him and wanted to be around him.

While his goals and standards are extremely lofty, he always believed that “how we get there matters.”

We want to take a moment to celebrate a great leader and a great friend. And to all the leaders out there, you have a great privilege and responsibility, to be the leader you want to be, to be a light worth following.
