A huge thank you to the Australian Healthy Conservatoires Network for allowing me the opportunity today to present, “Time to Evolve: Are Our Training Models Fit for Today’s Artists?”.
This presentation was designed for tertiary creative arts educators and explored the current difficulty of balancing old school and new school teaching methods.
It asked the question, how can we continue to push our students through the discomfort of facing challenges and potential failure, while also nurturing the human behind the performer and creating a respectful, collaborative learning environment.
It’s a complicated and nuanced topic, and I hope today’s session started an important conversation and provided some new insights on how to navigate this delicate balance.
