Pregnancy can bring many changes to the skin, and for me, one of them was increased pigmentation.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy can trigger or worsen pigmentation, including melasma. Although it is very common, every type of pigmentation is different, which is why an individual skin assessment and personalised treatment plan are so important.

Today, I had my first IPL treatment to target the visible pigmentation. In the same session, I also had Venus Viva skin resurfacing to stimulate collagen production and improve my overall skin texture and tone.

These are my honest before photos, and I’m excited to document the journey and see how my skin responds.

Would you like me to share my progress and after results? Comment “YES” below if you’d like to follow my treatment journey.

A little visit to the clinic during my maternity leave.

I couldn’t stay away for too long, so I popped into the clinic to say hello to the girls. It was so lovely seeing everyone and catching up.

It feels strange being away, but it was really nice to step back into the clinic, see the team and spend a little time there.

Missing my beautiful team and looking forward to being back when the time is right.

Questions NOT to ask immediately after your treatment…

“Why can’t I see the final result yet?”
“Is this swelling normal?”
“Why is my skin red?”
“Can I go to the gym tonight?”
“Can I have a glass of wine?”
“Can I put makeup on straight away?”
“Can I book another treatment tomorrow?”
“Why does it look different to the photo I showed you?”
And our favourite…

“Can I just do everything I normally do?”
Your treatment doesn’t finish when you leave the clinic.
Healing, inflammation, collagen stimulation and cellular renewal all take time and what you do afterwards can influence your result.

Follow your aftercare.
Give your skin time to respond.

And most importantly, don’t judge your result on Day 1.
At Amirova, we’re not interested in quick fixes. We create treatment plans designed around skin health, longevity and results.

Save this before your next appointment.

Understanding acne beyond the breakout.
When Marion joined the Amirova team, she was experiencing persistent cystic acne that was not only affecting her skin, but also her confidence.
Acne is a complex, multifactorial inflammatory skin condition. Its development can involve several interconnected processes, including increased sebum production, follicular hyperkeratinisation and congestion, Cutibacterium acnes, inflammation, hormonal influences and impairment of the skin barrier.
This is why managing acne effectively requires much more than simply treating individual breakouts as they appear.

For Marion, we began with a comprehensive assessment of her skin and carefully tailored her homecare regimen to support barrier function, regulate congestion and inflammation, and introduce appropriate active ingredients without unnecessarily compromising the skin.

Alongside this, we developed a progressive in-clinic treatment plan based on how her skin presented and, importantly, how it responded over time.

With inflammatory and cystic acne, our priority is not to aggressively treat the skin at every appointment. Over-treatment can disrupt the epidermal barrier, increase irritation and potentially exacerbate inflammation.
Instead, we focus on understanding the factors contributing to each individual’s acne and creating a treatment strategy that can be adjusted as the skin changes.

Consistency and patience are essential.
Acne develops through biological processes occurring beneath the visible surface of the skin, so meaningful improvement takes time. The objective is not simply fewer active lesions, but improved skin function, reduced inflammation, prevention of new lesions and, ultimately, reducing the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation and acne scarring.

Marion’s journey is ongoing, and we will continue to reassess and adapt her treatment plan as her skin progresses.

Because successful acne management isn’t about chasing symptoms, it’s about understanding the skin, respecting its biology and treating it strategically over time.
