Here’s a simple recipe to reduce bloating and constipation.

Essential you only need TWO ingredients
Psyllium husks
Pomegranate juice (or another juice- prune juice would be great for constipation)

Take 3 teaspoons of psyllium and add it to 150ml of juice. Shake it up and pop it in the fridge for 15 mins (or longer).
You can multiply this recipe, pour into jars and use over the week!
It’s so easy and delicious. The psyllium acts like an internal sweep, moving through stuck waste and sweeping the bowels and bulking stools.

It’s so easy to blame the food and cut it out of the diet. Sure there are some people who need to avoid certain foods (such as individuals with coeliac disease or those with anaphylactic allergies) but in general, most people should be able to tolerate all good quality whole foods.

Many people come to me in the clinic on restrictive diets because they find they are reacting to foods, even healthy whole foods such as FODMAP containing foods, histamine containing foods, sulfur rich foods and the list goes on. If you or your children are reacting to normal whole foods, the food is likely not the issue. Instead, the internal environment is all out of whack. The bloating, pain, constipation and diarrhoea aren’t the problem….These are the symptoms, the clues that something else is going on.

The good news is that we have ways to restore the internal environment. We can recalibrate the functioning of the gut cells, calm the underlying immune system and build a healthy, protective microbiome. And the result of this spans far beyond the gut. Yes, your gut symptoms improve, but so do autoimmune conditions, dull or dry skin, energy levels and so much more.
This is a clinical focus for me with my clients in my packages. I love working in this space!

If you’d like more info on this, comment discovery and I’ll DM you. 🙂

Struggling to bounce back like you used to? It doesn’t always come down to just being older and the exciting part is that we can directly influence our bodies ability to repair.

When our cells can adequately defend themselves, the downstream symptoms start to clear.

Poor recovery after exercise, catching everything that’s going round, struggling after one glass of wine… these are all signs that our cells are overloaded and need some help.

I love working in this area. It all starts in the gut. Please reach out via DM or book a discovery call to chat

The skin is deeply connected to the gut. I’ve found commonly in my practice that we cannot heal the skin until we have addressed the gut.

For inflammatory skin conditions, topical remedies can only go so far. If the underlying inflammation isn’t addressed, it’s very difficult to stay in remission and flares are common.

I work with my clients to support and repair the gut immune connection. This is the first step in improving overall health, reducing inflammation and restoring balance to the skin.

If you pay attention to when your bloating happens, it can tell you a lot about where things are going wrong in your gut.

Here’s how to read the signs:

🪧 Bloating on waking
Often points to sluggish motility or incomplete clearance.
If things aren’t moving well, fermentation can build up overnight. Perhaps you ate too close to bedtime or went for a late night snack?

🪧 Bloating straight after eating
This is usually upper digestion.
Think low stomach acid, poor enzyme output, or simply eating too quickly and forgetting to chew! (yes, that matters more than you think).

🪧 Bloating 1–2 hours after eating
Now we’re in the small intestine.
This can be a sign of carbohydrate malabsorption or small intestinal dysbiosis (including SIBO in some cases).

🪧 Bloating 3+ hours after eating
This is when your large intestine takes over.
Some fermentation is normal—but excessive bloating here can point to imbalances in the colon microbiome.

🪧 Bloating that builds throughout the day
A big clue for sluggish motility (slow bowel transit time- see my free guide via link in my bio)
Food is going in… but not moving through efficiently.

Remember this isn’t about self-diagnosing, it’s about recognising patterns so you can know where to start.

If you’re someone who feels like you “bloat no matter what you eat” → your timing patterns are one of the most useful places to start.

Save this so you can refer back to it 🙂

Back with another addition of Tam’s two cents. The segment nobody asked for yet everybody enjoys?? 🤣

My rant today is about food! We’ve been taught to look at food as protein, carbs, fats… plus a few vitamins and minerals. These things are so important but they’re only part of the story.

Whole foods contain thousands of phytochemicals—plant compounds that act as signalling molecules in the body.

They don’t just “feed” you… they communicate with your biology. If this sounds a little woo woo, I can assure you I’m talking pure science here. 🤓

These phytochemicals have the ability to:

- Turn on cellular pathways
- Calm inflammation
- Promote detoxification
- Improve energy production
- Feed and shape your microbiome

This is why two diets with the same macros can have completely different effects on health.
It’s not just what you eat. It’s the information your food carries.

This is the essence of Nutrigenomics. Nutrition that “talks to your genes” 🧬 and its powerful stuff. Our food can really be our best medicine.

If I’ve even slightly intrigued you, comment ‘intrigued’ below and I’ll at least know that you read this far down the caption 😆🙌

IBS isn’t a real diagnosis. It’s a label for “your gut is a mess and we don’t know exactly why.”

The likely answer.. the cells lining your gut are inflamed and your microbiome is unhappy. Your beneficial bacteria are depleted and/or problematic bacteria have taken over. Your gut lining is permeable.

The result? Bloating, cramping, unpredictable bowel movements, food sensitivities, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety. Aka IBS

The mainstream solution? Well there ain’t really one. Generally it’s about managing symptoms with medications, natural or pharmaceutical.

but what if there was a better approach? What if we could restore functioning of the gut wall, support immune balance to lower inflammation, rebuild beneficial bacteria in the gut, rebuild the diet to support microbiome diversity?

We can!
