People are at the heart of everything we do.

Today is World Lung Cancer Day. 🫁

Lung cancer is one of the most common, and most misunderstood, cancers in Australia. One of the biggest barriers to early diagnosis? Stigma. The assumption that it only affects smokers. The truth is: anyone can develop lung cancer. And the earlier it's found, the better the outcomes.

If you have any concerns about your health, respiratory or otherwise, please speak to your doctor.

Lung cancer doesn't discriminate, and neither does our care.

Today is World Head & Neck Cancer Day. ❀️🀍

Head and neck cancers affect the mouth, throat, voice box, thyroid, and salivary glands - and they're often caught later than they need to be, simply because people aren't sure what to look for.

Signs worth getting checked:
β€’ A lump or sore that doesn't heal
β€’ A persistent change in your voice
β€’ Difficulty swallowing
β€’ Unexplained ear pain
β€’ A white or red patch in the mouth

Please don't wait. Early detection makes an enormous difference - and our teams are here to help. If you have a concern, reach out to your healthcare professional.

We're delighted to welcome Oncology Physiotherapy to our Cancer Care Noosa centre, with Megan joining our team to support people living with and beyond cancer. πŸ’™

Cancer and its treatment can affect the way we move, feel and go about our daily lives. Oncology physiotherapy provides personalised support to help manage treatment-related side effects, improve strength and mobility, build confidence throughout your cancer journey and ensure you are able to continue doing the things you love.

Whether you've recently been diagnosed, are undergoing treatment, in advanced diagnoses stages or are navigating life after treatment, support is available at every stage.

Importantly, this service is open to everyone in our community, not just existing Cancer Care Associates patients. If you or a loved one are looking for specialised physiotherapy to help improve quality of life and wellbeing, Megan is here to help.

We're proud to continue expanding the supportive care services available in Noosa, ensuring more people can access the comprehensive, compassionate care close to home.

July is Sarcoma Awareness Month πŸ’›

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that develops within in the body's connective tissues, including bone, muscle, fat, nerves and blood vessels. While it is uncommon, recognising the signs and listening to your body can make an important difference.

A lump that continues to grow, persistent pain, or symptoms that don't feel quite right are always worth discussing with your healthcare provider. You know your body best - if something doesn't feel normal, don't ignore it.

This month, we stand alongside everyone impacted by sarcoma - patients, families, carers, researchers and healthcare professionals - to raise awareness and encourage earlier conversations.

If something doesn't feel right, trust yourself and have it checked.

July is UV Safety Awareness Month, a timely reminder that sun protection isn't just a summer concern.

More than 95% of skin cancer cases are caused by exposure to UV radiation from the sun β€” making this one of the most preventable forms of cancer.

While winter may bring cooler temperatures, UV radiation can still be strong enough to damage your skin, particularly on clear days. That's why protecting your skin should remain a year-round habit.

Simple measures such as applying sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, a hat and sunglasses, and seeking shade when UV levels are 3 or above can significantly reduce your risk.

When it comes to skin cancer prevention, the power is largely in our hands. Small actions taken consistently today can help protect your health for years to come.

This UV Safety Awareness Month, make sun safety part of your everyday routine β€” no matter the season.
