In this clip from The Gossip podcast, she talks about doing invoices while Quinn slept and having team meetings “with little Quinny there”. Now that Quinn is on the move, it’s harder again.

If you’re fitting work, school runs and your child’s appointments into one week, you’ll know the feeling.

It’s a big part of why we see children where life already happens: at home, at school or online. Therapy should fit around your family, not the other way round.

We’re paediatric occupational therapists for children from birth to 17. We help with everyday things like dressing, eating, sleep routines, handwriting, play and big feelings.

They held it together all day. You get what’s left.

If your child is lovely at school and falls apart in the car, you’re not doing anything wrong.

There’s even a name for it: after-school restraint collapse.

All day they’ve been following rules, waiting their turn, coping with noise and keeping big feelings in. Home is where it’s safe to let go. Which is, honestly, a compliment to you.

What tends to help in the first half hour:
• food before questions
• a bit of quiet or a bit of movement whichever they need
• save “how was your day?” for dinner or bath time

Save this and send it to whoever does pick-up.

If it’s happening most days, it’s very intense or it isn’t easing after a few weeks, have a chat with your child’s teacher, your GP or an OT.

Daylight saving starts this Sunday 4th October and the clocks go forward an hour.

For us it’s one groggy morning. For kids it can mean a week of bedtime battles, because their body clock hasn’t caught up with the one on the wall.

Swipe for five small things that help, starting tonight.

If sleep has been tricky for a while, not just this week, we’re here to help. Light, noise and routine are all part of the sensory side of sleep we look at in OT.

R U OK? conversations don’t have to be perfect.

A simple “I’ve noticed you seem different. I’m here if you want to talk” can mean a lot. And if your child can’t tell you they’re not okay, their nervous system might be telling you in other ways.

Let’s keep showing up with curiosity, connection and compassion.

🌈 Our rainbow baby

Today is Rainbow Baby Day. 🌈

Our rainbow baby was born in December 2024, and honestly… I still don’t think I have the words to describe how amazing it was.

After everything that came before her, holding her in my arms felt almost impossible to believe. There was so much love, but also so much emotion. Gratitude. Relief. Fear. Joy. A deep sense of we made it here.

A rainbow baby doesn’t erase the storms that came before them. And their arrival doesn’t take away the babies we lost or the grief that lives alongside the joy.

But that moment… meeting her, seeing her, holding her… was something I will never forget.

You were so worth the wait.

For every woman still waiting for her rainbow, and for every mother carrying both love and loss — I see you. 🤍

Today we say goodbye (for now) to our incredible OT, Pippa. 💛

Pippa has been such a valued part of the Moment By Moment family. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication have made a lasting impact on so many children and families, and we know she will be deeply missed. The connections she has built and the care she has given have been truly special.

Now it’s time for her next adventure… she’s off to galavant around Europe! ✈️🌍 We couldn’t be more excited for her as she explores, makes lifelong memories, and embraces everything this new chapter has to offer.

Thank you, Pippa, for everything you’ve brought to our team. We are so grateful for the time we’ve shared with you and wish you nothing but happiness, adventure, and success in whatever comes next.

Following his lead. ✨

Today my son asked me to build with him… and to copy what he was creating. It would’ve been easy to jump in with my own ideas, but instead I followed his lead.

He was so creative, so proud of his ideas, and completely immersed in play. Those moments reminded me that children don’t need us to take over—they need us to be present, curious, and connected.

When we enter their world, rather than asking them to enter ours, connection grows, confidence builds, and imagination flourishes.

Some of the most meaningful moments happen when we simply say, “Show me how.”
