These Women cry out “Zaki! Zaki!” to wish you peace. their torsos are emblazoned by scarification, signs both distinctive and symbolic. these stippled designs carried social meaning as well, for they indicated a woman’s clan, position within her family, age group, and class. ritual scarification of both men and women is still practiced in many regions of Africa.

Language matters in birth.

Because when something is called “just a clip,” many parents imagine something sitting gently on the skin, not a spiral wire inserted through the cervix and screwed into the baby’s scalp for continuous monitoring.

This post isn’t about fear.

It’s about informed consent.

Internal fetal monitoring can absolutely have a place in some labours. But every parent deserves to understand:
• what it is
• when it’s recommended
• the risks + benefits
• and what alternatives may exist

You deserve clear information before saying yes to any intervention during birth.

Education changes the way we experience birth ✧

CLIENT LOVE ♡

“I have no words to thank Maitê and express how essential she was during the preparation for childbirth, during labour, and also in the postpartum period. Without a support network in Australia, being able to count on her and her experience was fundamental.”

“Eu não tenho palavras pra agradecer e pra expressar o quanto a Maitê foi essencial no período de preparação para o parto e na hora do parto e também no pós-parto. Sem rede de apoio na Austrália poder contar com ela e com sua experiência foram fundamentais.”

Between breaths, strength and surrender… a new mother was born 🤍

Birth is a portal.

A deep meeting between body, instinct and love.

A moment suspended in time 🤍
The first breath, the first touch, the first time holding the baby she carried for months in her own arms.
There is nothing more powerful than a woman meeting herself through birth.

Honoured to witness so many of these moments as a doula. ✨

Birth education should include the full picture not just the versions of birth that feel soft, quiet and uncomplicated.

Vacuum assisted birth (Kiwi Cup delivery) is a common obstetric intervention in Australia, but many parents are never fully told what it involves physically, emotionally or medically until they are already in the moment.

This carousel isn’t about fear.
It’s about informed consent.

Understanding:
• why vacuum delivery may be recommended
• the benefits
• the risks to mother and baby
• and what questions you can ask during labour

can help parents feel more prepared navigating birth decisions under pressure.

Intervention can absolutely be necessary and life-saving.
But parents still deserve honesty, communication and compassionate care throughout the process.

Education is empowerment. 🤍
