“Cosmeticorexia” is becoming a growing concern amongst children and teenagers with social media increasingly influencing how young people view their skin and appearance.

Recently, Dr Ritu Gupta spoke on Sunrise about the rise in young people using unnecessary anti-ageing skincare, harsh active ingredients and becoming overly focused on achieving “perfect” skin.

So what should children actually be using?

For most young skin, less is more:
- Gentle cleanser
- Basic moisturiser
- Daily SPF

Many strong actives designed for adult skin can actually damage the skin barrier when used too early.
