**A Heartfelt Pampering Session: Healing Beyond Beauty**
Today, Purely Polished was booked for a pampering session I couldn't fill at the last minute. The request came from a client who wanted to give her mother, who was in the hospital, a moment of peace and care before she began an intensive round of treatment. Her mother was terminal, and the daughter deeply wanted to pamper her and bring her comfort in what was a challenging time for them both.
I couldn't let them down. Though the full service requested wasn't something I could provide (I'm not a nail technician), as a hairdresser with a passion for healing and nurturing, I knew I could still offer something soothing and meaningful.
When I arrived at the hospital, I didn’t know what to expect. The conditions were less than ideal—her mother couldn’t lie flat, so I had to improvise with the treatment. But as soon as I entered the room, I felt the love and warmth that surrounded them. The way the daughter and mother spoke to each other touched me deeply, and I knew that this session had to be about more than just pampering. It was about infusing love, calm, and acceptance into the space, for them both.
We went ahead with an organic facial, head massage, scalp brushing, and a gua sha comb massage. I was careful around the bruising, focusing instead on relaxation and sending love through every stroke. Halfway through the treatment, the mother fell asleep and began to softly snore—one of the biggest compliments in my line of work. It showed she felt safe, relaxed, and cared for.
Her feet were in compression socks, but I still massaged them gently, holding them in my hands as I worked on moving energy through her body, releasing any blockages to bring more ease and flow to her system. When I finished, she took my hand and said it was the best treatment she had ever experienced. She told me I had "angel healing hands." Her words filled my heart because my intention had been just that—to help her feel truly held and to offer her body some comfort, love, and pleasure, even in its fragility.
As I looked at her, I saw a powerful spirit. I know that when she leaves this world, it will leave a massive hole in the hearts of those who love her. But I also sensed that she would soon be reunited with the love of her life, waiting to hold her once more.
This was a reminder that healing isn’t just physical—it's emotional, spiritual, and energetic. And in moments like these, I’m grateful to be able to offer more than just a service, but a true connection and care that transcends the ordinary.
