Slide 1: One week until R U OK?Day (Thursday 10 September). Here's the manager checklist worth reviewing now.

Slide 2: Ask genuinely, and mean it, not in passing, not as a checkbox.

Slide 3: Listen without rushing to fix it. Ask what support would help right now.

Slide 4: Know your own limits. Encourage appropriate professional support, and agree when to check in again. You are a first point of contact, not a counsellor.

Save this checklist for the week ahead.

Support does not require managers to become women's health experts.

It requires them to listen respectfully, protect privacy, understand the organisation's options and avoid making assumptions.

Good workplace education builds awareness.
Good systems make it safer to ask for what is needed.

The employee remains the expert on her own experience.

Women's health is not one topic and women are not one uniform group.

Health needs can shift across life stages and may involve menstrual health, pelvic pain, fertility, pregnancy, caregiving, mental health, perimenopause, menopause, sleep, heart health and more.

Workplaces do not need managers to become clinicians.

They can:

• provide credible health education
• protect privacy
• offer clear pathways to support
• review flexibility, leave and workplace practices
• make participation voluntary and inclusive
• listen to what employees say they need

This September, HSG will focus on women's health, R U OK?Day, psychological safety and heart health, with practical ideas that continue beyond the awareness date.

Slide 1: Women's Health Week runs 7–11 September, 12 days from now. Still enough time to check the basics below, but it's tightening; best actioned this week.

Slide 2: Check access: can employees find the policy, the leave options and the support pathway without having to ask twice?

Slide 3: Check privacy: is there a way to request support or flexibility without disclosing more than necessary? Book a session, review a policy or ask a question now. There is still time to shape a program before the week begins.

"Ergonomic training is most useful when employees can see how small, realistic adjustments apply to their own working day.

After an HSG Ergonomic Webinar, Iana Santos Quarelo from Ai-Media wrote:

“The Ergonomic Webinar was a fantastic experience! The session was designed to equip us with practical knowledge and techniques that enhance our workspace comfort and overall well-being. The trainer's expertise was evident as he guided us through various ergonomic principles, explaining how minor adjustments can significantly impact our daily work routine.”

HSG provides ergonomic assessments and training for office, home and hybrid work settings across Australia.

The aim is practical education and modifiable work recommendations, not diagnosis or treatment."

Slide 1: What does an ergonomic assessment actually assess?

Slide 2: The person. Comfort, work habits, individual needs and any concerns they choose to raise.

Slide 3: The task and setup. Equipment, layout, posture, repetition, duration and how the work is performed.

Slide 4: The practical changes. Adjustments, education and recommendations for the employee and organisation.

An ergonomic assessment is not a chair inspection and it is not a medical diagnosis.

It is a structured review of modifiable work factors. It can be delivered for office, home and hybrid work settings, with recommendations shaped to the person and the work they actually do.

For persistent pain or injury, appropriate clinical assessment may also be required.

A resilience session is only as useful as it is deliverable, including when the brief changes at the last minute.

After HSG facilitated a Team Vision and Navigating Uncertainty workshop for BHP , Brian W. wrote:

“Holistic Services Group provided excellent service and support to put together a presentation pack and facilitate a workshop on Team Vision and Navigating Uncertainty on very short notice. Dana was a wonderful facilitator — session ran really well despite minimal preparation. Highly recommended!”

Short notice tests a facilitator more than a fully scoped brief does. That is where experience shows.

Tradies' health cannot be reduced to “lift with your knees”.

Physical demands, tools, task repetition, heat, recovery time, job control, support and mental health can interact.

Training has a role. So do suitable equipment, realistic planning, early reporting pathways and work design.

August is Tradies National Health Month, established by the Australian Physiotherapy Association.

R U OK?Day 2026 falls on Thursday 10 September, four weeks from now.

Every year, workplaces run a version of the same day: a morning tea, a poster, a well-meant question. The organisations that get real value from it are usually the ones that started earlier.

Over the next four weeks, we'll be sharing what manager preparation, escalation pathways and psychosocial risk review actually look like ahead of the day, not just on it.

If your team wants manager training in place before 10 September, book time with HSG now. Four weeks is enough lead time to do this properly; two weeks usually isn't.
