What happens when your career doesn’t go according to plan? 🛣️

At our Non-Linear Paths to Success event, our brought together four graduates with very different career journeys to explore exactly that.

🎤 Ali Chebbani, Simone Amelia Jordan, Changsoo Yu and Thomas Derricott-Yap shared the decisions, detours, challenges and unexpected opportunities that shaped their professional lives, as well as the lessons they’ve learned along the way. Thanks to the engaging moderation of Bella Liu 👑, the evening sparked honest conversations and plenty of inspiration for attendees.

Their careers range from hip-hop journalism and teaching to facilities management, entrepreneurship, startup mentoring and social media. All their stories were a reminder that there’s no one-size-fits-all definition of career success.

The evening offered honest advice on navigating career uncertainty, backing yourself, staying adaptable, as well as building a career that can evolve with you.

This year, UTS is proud to be a part of the Sydney Science Trail, which partners with the Australian Museum and the Botanic Gardens of Sydney for !

As Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, we are bringing together a series of inspiring in-person events, excursions and expos that celebrate science and discovery. It's an opportunity to explore the wonders of science, from the natural world and climate change to environmental stewardship.

We're especially excited to see Dr Jinni Yan (Lecturer, Faculty of Science) and fellow UTS science experts sharing their knowledge and passion throughout the program.
