Australians often believe we have a healthier lifestyle than other first world countries, however the data doesn’t always back these views. With incidence rates of chronic kidney disease, diabetes and heart disease nearing the US levels, we need to rethink our strategies on addressing the lifestyle factors contributing to the chronic disease burden in Australia.

Considering the fact that Australia currently spends nearly $7500 per person on health, CEO of Health Solutions and First, Hall suggests that if we were to focus more on preventative health care this figure could be significantly reduced over time, ultimately seeing improvements in health care.
