Music is a gift that keeps on giving 🎶

A former music teacher and musician, resident Noel is a valued member of our musical groups at our Epping Meadows Care Community in Victoria — sharing his love of music through song and ukulele. When Noel expressed a wish to play guitar again, our team was delighted to help make that dream a reality 🎸

Noel is now back strumming his favourite tunes and sharing even more of his musical talent with residents, families, visitors, and team at our Care Community ❤️

"Reading poems is a way to show I'm present. I can say 'I'm here!'"

For resident Kim, poetry is more than words on a page 📖

When she first moved to Alfred Cove Care Community in Perth, Kim found communicating beyond simple words and gestures. To enable Kim to reconnect with her voice, our team encouraged Kim to join our Care Community’s group poetry readings.

Through patience, practice, and the support of team members and fellow residents, Kim rediscovered her confidence, rebuilt her English skills, and found new ways to connect with those around her.
Today, Kim reads complete poems with clarity, participates eagerly in group discussion, and even connects with her family over video calls. Her story is a powerful reminder that the qualities of passion and perseverance are human at heart 💗

Mates reunited 👥🤝🏼

For resident and former butcher Sam, moving into ou Kanwal Gardens Care Community led to an unexpected reunion with his old friend and neighbourhood postman Jim.

Years after sharing chats on doorsteps and over deliveries, the pair found themselves together again at the euchre table, exchanging stories and picking up right where they left off.

“Jim used to deliver the good and bad news to Sam while Sam delivered the choicest cuts to Jim,” says wellbeing manager Leonnie. “It took no time for the old stories to flow! You never know where life will lead you.” 💙

What does truly person-centred care for people living with dementia look like? 💜

At Manly Hillside Care Community on Sydney's Northern Beaches, we’ve created a warm, welcoming environment designed exclusively for women living with dementia.

Home to just 36 residents, Manly Hillside's small household model focuses on fostering meaningful relationships, understanding each person's unique life experiences, and creating a sense of safety, belonging, and purpose.

From exercise classes and music sessions to friendships that flourish over shared interests, every day is shaped around what matters most to our residents 👩🎶

Because caring isn't one-size-fits-all. It's about understanding what matters most to each resident and creating a community that enables them to thrive.

Ageing is living — and resident Diane is proof of that 💜

When Diane moved into our Tweed River Care Community in January 2025, she was navigating significant health challenges and the loss of her husband.

Since then, her journey has been one of resilience, renewal, and rediscovering the things she loves.

Encouraged by fellow residents and team in our craft group, Diane picked up her knitting needles for the first time in more than 25 years and now creates warm socks for friends at our Care Community 🧦🧶

She’s also rekindled her lifelong passion for music, rebuilding her confidence, one note at a time.

Today, Diane plays piano for our Care Community’s monthly church service, filling the room with familiar hymns and inspiring all those who listen 🎹

Her story is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to reconnect with the passions that bring purpose, joy, and meaning to our lives ✨

From Adelaide Zoo to Joslin Manor Care Community — resident Mario's artistry is still bringing people together, one mosaic at a time 🧩✨

After moving from Italy to Australia at 21, Mario built a career as a master mosaic and terrazzo craftsman, creating intricate artworks from marble, quartz, and glass. If you've spent time in Adelaide, there's a good chance you've admired his craftsmanship in shopping centres or even the children's zoo mosaics at Adelaide Zoo.

Today, Mario continues creating beautiful, character-filled pieces that inspire residents, families, and team members alike at Joslin Manor Care Community.

As Mario's daughter Gianna shares, "Not only is this a showcase of his craftsmanship — it's a way to stay connected and feel deeply useful in a stage of life where purpose is more valuable than ever." 💗

"You don't stop having fun when you get old, you get old when you stop having fun." 🕺

When resident Jill moved to Lakes Entrance Care Community in Victoria, she didn't just bring her love of music with her – she brought a lifetime of stories, songs, and radio magic 📻🎶

The 87-year-old has been spinning the DJ decks and sharing music with the local community for more than 20 years. A former radio presenter, Jill founded her own radio program just two weeks after moving into our Care Community, bringing classic hits from Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley and more to fellow residents twice a week.

What started as a simple idea has become a much-loved part of life at Lakes Entrance Care Community, with residents singing along, tapping their feet, and reminiscing, inspired by the music of their youth 🎧💿

For Jill, music is more than entertainment – it's a way to bring people together, spark joy, and create meaningful moments every day.

Here if you need! When resident Sharon got back into netball, she began to thrive 🏐

At first, Sharon found the transition to life in care at Gawler Hillside Care Community in South Australia challenging following a diagnosis of dementia. By taking the time to understand her story, our team uncovered her lifelong love of netball.

A premiership-winning player, coach, umpire and dedicated club volunteer, the sport has shaped much of Sharon’s life. IBy installing a netball hoop in one of our courtyards our team enabled Sharon to reconnect with the game she loves — and the change has been remarkable.

Today, she's staying active, sharing her coaching tips with team members, building friendships, and finding joy in familiar routines once again. A beautiful example of person-centred care in practice.
