the sun is getting warmer
and the air is growing soft.
golden beams peak through
the shifting cumulus clouds.
in the earth, green shoots are
rising up to meet a brighter sky.
everything seems so much lighter
on spring mornings.
{ellis nightingale}

happy first day of spring
hope you get out and frolic amongst the trees (like I did) and bathe in the golden sunlight
may the next few months be a period of magnificent transformation x

in our group meetings, we’ve been chatting about what we’ve been doing (and not doing) during this lockdown.

some of us are baking, others have taken up knitting, rekindled their love for painting. one of my girlfriends is making candles. and others have not had the time or inclination to do any of these things…and for various reasons - home schooling, workloads - or for no reason at all.

there is no rule book for navigating a pandemic. there’s no right or wrong way to live through one.

it’s an absolute cliche (and I’m still going to say it) life can only be lived one day at a time, moment by moment.

we tend to think of ourselves as static but like nature, we flux and we flow indefinitely

what we can do is to learn to be discerning, mindful and conscious - choose what we engage with and what we don’t engage with.

ask ourselves - is this opening me up or closing me down?

* if you have a meditation practice, now is the time to get practising consistently.

* and if you don’t, engage in breathing exercises, intentionally every day - even if it’s only 5 minutes.

* spend time in Nature every day, with movement to support opening the body.

* eat and drink what enlivens your system.

* choose to spend time with people who are uplifting and expansive, not constraining or overwhelming.

* be discerning with the information flows you allow yourself access to. choose quality over quantity.

stay safe and well, and be kind (especially to yourself). xK

show me a more Balmain photo…i’ll wait

there’s so much I love about this photo. taken at my favourite little m cafe where I get my daily chai(s)….

the baristas are wearing masks handmade by mum who decided at the start of the first lockdown last year that she wanted to do something good for the community. so we bought fabric from the sewing basket, a local charity, and she started making masks. little m kindly agreed to let us place them at the cafe and requested a donation for each mask. to date, we have raised well over $2k for mental health charities.

in the midst of the first lockdown, I got to know johanna through my daily chai visits and I’m lucky to count her as one of my dearest friends.

then of course there’s benji, unofficial mascot of balmain and his human mummy clare, whom we got to know over coffees at little m

yes, lockdown is extended and it’s definitely not the news we hoped for but out of difficult times can come good things, if we are open and present. and this photo reminds me of the many unexpectedly good things that came out of the first lockdown.

I will continue to provide online follow up, support and group meds during lockdown. for those who enrolled in courses that have been deferred, don’t worry, we have contacted you and we will schedule additional courses once lockdown concludes.

now is the time to put all your healing practices into motion. get vaccinated. wear a mask. wash your hands. isolate physically if you need to, but not emotionally or spiritually. look out for each other. stay safe and be kind to yourself and others. x

The first full moon after the June solstice is known as Guru Purnima. Guru means teacher, remover of darkness, bringer of light, and Purnima means full moon.

The presumption is that you are light. All a teacher does is help clear away some of the shadows which obscure the light.

Guru Purnima is a night where, by the light of the full moon, we give thanks for all the teachers in our lives, in all forms, all the people and experiences who helped us and shaped us in some way along our path.

Wherever you are on this auspicious evening, go bathe in the magical moonlight, give thanks to all your gurus, and from your heart, place your intention on a wish that is of greatest benefit to yourself and the collective. JGD x

all the magic with repost from When I was 19 I jumped on a plane with a bunch of strangers and flew to India... I struggled to even control my breathing on the way over, almost having multiple panic attacks as I wondered the whole time what I had signed up for and how I suddenly ended up in a country that immediately rocked the very foundation of the world I thought I knew.
Turns out that this lovely lady, along with so many other incredible people, was on that plane.
On the first day of our retreat one of them put their hands on my back and complimented me for taking the leap into the unknown at such a young age and it was the first time I acknowledged and saw my own bravery. I’d been so hard on myself for so long that I didn’t even see my own courage.
It was a trip that fundamentally changed who I was and what I thought I was capable of doing.
It was the trip I’ll always reference when I think about all the magic that can lie on the other side of our fear, all the magic that lies outside of our comfort zones, all the magic I would have missed out on if my thoughts stopped me from getting on that plane.
My life has been interwoven with the people I met ever since then, and taking these images was a beautiful reminder of the peace and the power that came from being around people like Kimberley in India. So get out of your comfort zones people 🤍 Feel the fear but please, please, please just do it anyway ✨
Thank you for allowing me to capture some of the magic
