Achieve Australia Achieve Australia is a for-purpose community organisation supporting people with disability

Achieve Australia is a for-purpose organisation and registered NDIS provider. Our purpose is to build extraordinary lives through supporting people with disability to be well, have a home, choose a career or ways to learn new skills and participate in their community. We deliver the following services to people with disability across Sydney and in the Northern Rivers region of NSW:

My Home accom

modation services – Daily independent living supports tailored to individuals whether they are living in group housing or alone or with a flatmate

Community participation, individual supports – Flexible ‘drop-in’ services for those living in their own homes or transitioning to independent living arrangements

My Life community and lifestyle program – support to pursue passions and hobbies, learn new skills, and enjoy experiences in the community

Supported employment – Development of work skills and support to excel in a job. We offer employment at our packing and assembly business, AchievAble Enterprises, and our 4 fabric and needlecraft stores and warehouse, The Sewing Basket. Our social ventures are open to business partnerships, volunteers, and donations. Support Coordination – Our team works with people with disability and their families to navigate the NDIS and secure the supports they need to promote their health, wellbeing and life choices

Short term accommodation and respite – Our nursing staff at Summer Hill House provide services to children and adults with complex support needs in a home-away-from home setting. We also work with people with disability to co-design new programs and improve our services. In addition to this, Achieve Australia is a joint venture partner in disability accommodation specialist, Inclusive Housing Australia. And we support and collaborate with The Achieve Foundation and its work to create a more inclusive Australia for people with disability, particularly those with intellectual disability.

Today on Mabo Day, we acknowledge the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo and the historic High Court decision that changed Australia forever.

Mabo Day recognises the moment the legal fiction of terra nullius, the idea that this land belonged to no one before colonisation, was overturned. It was a significant step in recognising the enduring connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture and community.

At Achieve Australia, reconciliation is an ongoing commitment. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are committed to continuing to learn, listen and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while creating more inclusive and culturally safe communities.

Today, we pay our respects to Elders past and present and reflect on the importance of truth, recognition and walking together toward reconciliation.

Happy Pride Month from Achieve Australia 🌈🏳️‍🌈

This year, we’re bringing inclusion to life with - Sydney’s only deaf and blind drag queen!

Let’s hear from Dizzy about what bringing inclusion to life means for her and she shares her experience navigating both LGBTQIA+ and disability identities.

Pride is about more than visibility. We’re working to make sure every person is seen, heard, and supported to be their whole self.

We wish you all a fabulous Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈✨
