Have you registered for MyMedicare?

MyMedicare is a free and voluntary program that helps strengthen the relationship between you, your GP and your regular healthcare team - supporting better continuity of care.

Registered patients can access:
- Longer Medicare-funded telehealth appointments with their GP
- Triple bulk billing incentives for longer telehealth consults for children under 16, pensioners and concession card holders

You're eligible if you have a Medicare or DVA card and have attended the same practice in the past 24 months (one visit in remote locations, two visits in other areas). People experiencing hardship, including domestic and family violence or homelessness, are exempt from eligibility requirements.

We know consistent and accessible healthcare matters - especially for LGBTQ+ communities who may have struggled to find affirming care in the past. To learn more, you can visit the MyMedicare website or ask the clinic during your next appointment.

For many years, joining the stem cell donor registry meant donating blood, which excluded many people in our community. That barrier has now been removed, thanks to at-home cheek swab kits!

If you’re aged 17–35, you may be eligible to join. It takes just a few minutes, and a cheek swab kit can be sent straight to your door.

Inclusive healthcare shouldn’t be limited by your postcode.
After an initial appointment at Kaleido, many of our practitioners are able to offer follow-up appointments via telehealth - making ongoing care more accessible for patients who don’t live locally, travel often, are chronically ill or simply prefer appointments from home.

Kaleido was created with both our local community and the wider LGBTQ+ community in mind. Everyone deserves access to inclusive, judgement-free healthcare, wherever they’re based.

During the first wave of the HIV/AIDS crisis, Dr Greg Batty was a bulk billing solo GP in King Street, Newtown. Between 1986 and 1997, he cared for many patients living with HIV and AIDS, including providing palliative care for those who wished to die at home.

This history is such an important part of our community’s story, and a powerful reminder of the role safe, compassionate and community-led healthcare plays in LGBTQ+ lives.

As a q***r medical clinic, it’s an honour for Kaleido to continue providing specialised, inclusive care for our community, and we’re incredibly grateful to have practitioners like Dr Greg sharing their knowledge, experience and advocacy with both patients and the next generation of care.

We’re proud to share Dr Greg’s reflections this Pride Month 🌈

It’s Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈❤️

A time to celebrate our communities, honour those who came before us, and continue advocating for safe, inclusive and affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ people - in healthcare and beyond. We’re proud to serve, support and celebrate our community today and every day.
