It's easy to get caught up looking for the perfect supplement, protocol, or quick fix.

And while supplements can absolutely have their place, they're rarely where I start.

Before we talk about herbs, nutrients or testing, I often find myself coming back to the same questions:

Are you sleeping enough?
Are you eating regularly and nourishing your body?
How stressed is your nervous system?
How is your digestion?

Because these foundations influence so much more than people realise.

They impact energy, hormones, immune health, mood, recovery, and how resilient the body feels day-to-day.

The foundations aren't always the most exciting part of health, but they're often where the biggest improvements happen. Supplements can be really helpful to bolster things while we build those foundations back in.

Sometimes the most powerful changes come from supporting the basics consistently, rather than searching for the next thing to try.

One of the most common things I hear in clinic is:

"I think I need a liver detox."

And while supporting liver health can absolutely be important, it's often not as simple as taking a detox supplement and hoping for the best.

The liver is already detoxifying every single day — that's one of its many jobs.

What many people don't realise is that the liver doesn't work alone. It relies on other systems and pathways throughout the body to help process and eliminate waste effectively.

This is why, as a naturopath, I rarely look at the liver in isolation.

Instead, I look at the bigger picture and ask:
✨ Does the body have the support it needs to do what it's designed to do?

Often, supporting the foundations can have a much bigger impact than reaching straight for a "detox."

Health is rarely about forcing the body to work harder.
More often, it's about supporting it to work the way it was designed to.

Winter often gets the blame when we find ourselves getting sick more frequently.

But often it's not winter itself that's the problem.

Lack of sleep, chronic stress, poor gut health, and nutrient deficiencies can all place extra pressure on the immune system and make it harder for the body to stay resilient.

The good news is that these are often things we can work on and improve over time.

Small changes really do add up.

On the traditional land of the Darug people, in the beautiful valley of Webbs Creek, something truly magical happens every year. ✨

It’s taken me a few weeks to come back down to earth but this weekend holds a very special place in my heart — not just because I get to pour into this incredible community as a volunteer and educator, but because I get to do it with my daughter by my side. 🌿👧

This year I had the honour of collaborating with the brilliant to bring our Herbs of Wisdom workshop to life — weaving together plant medicine, intuition, and the deep wisdom that lives in the body. Watching women lean in, light up, and remember what they already know? Indescribable.

The Wise Women Gathering is one of those rare spaces where you leave feeling more like yourself than when you arrived.
