At Able2, our therapy team uses art, sand play, and creative tools -- not to make perfect artists, but to give our participants a safe, hands-on way to process emotions and express themselves entirely on their own terms. ✨

Spotlight on Staff: Meet Tiffany!

We are incredibly proud to highlight Tiffany, a registered psychologist and Behaviour Support Practitioner here at Able2. Tiffany is trained and highly experienced in providing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to individuals of all ages.

If you've been hearing a lot about EMDR lately, you aren’t alone! It has become one of the most talked-about, evidence-based approaches for treating trauma, anxiety, PTSD, and CPTSD.

To help demystify how it works, Tiffany just wrote a fantastic new blog post breaking down everything you need to know. 👇

In her latest blog, Tiffany explains:
What EMDR is: A structured therapy that focuses less on detailed talking and more on helping the brain reprocess stuck, distressing memories.
How it works: Using bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to reduce the emotional intensity of past trauma.
The key benefits: Faster results, long-lasting effects, and no need to retell every painful detail of your story.
Who it’s for: Anyone feeling "stuck" in past experiences, dealing with recurring anxiety, or looking for a structured, results-focused therapy.

EMDR is fully supported by global health organisations and is recognised under the Medicare framework in Australia as an effective psychological treatment.

Ready to learn more about how EMDR can help you or a loved one move toward a calmer, more connected life?

🎥 Bonus: The blog also includes a helpful explainer video by EMDRAA!

We recently held an internal Able2 training session on Nurturing Neurodiversity, and the turnout was incredible! A huge thank you to the amazing Charnee (one of our Behaviour Support Practitioners) for leading such an insightful session.

It was inspiring to see so many staff prioritise learning and growth. The feedback has been outstanding, and we’re already buzzing with new ways to better support our participants.

The best part? We’re preparing to offer this training to our wider community very soon!

A very helpful and readable analysis of the NDIS by the ABC - it is not an opinion piece, rather an informational overview that gives context to these important conversations.

Today Mark Butler will make announcements regarding how the NDIS will change. As providers we wait to see how will have to pivot and adapt in order to meet these changes - and still provide the support our participants and communities deserve. The NDIS is a good thing. It is world leading and supports those in communities to live ordinary lives. But the narrative coming from government and through to the press is destructive and divisive. As PWDA CEO says, 'Trust is being eroded because of what our politics has done to the NDIS.'
Read "Cutting the NDIS cuts into ordinary lives" - link below.

The NDIS is essential social infrastructure. Something Australians believed in.

A system that ensures people with disability can live, work and participate in our communities.

Now, trust in the NDIS is being eroded.

Not because people don’t understand why it matters when it’s explained. Most do.

Trust is being eroded because of what our politics has done to the NDIS.

Lives depend on these supports to thrive and sometimes exist at all. And once those cuts are made, the consequences do not stay contained. They show up in hospitals, in crisis systems, in families, and in lives cut short.

And we cannot afford that.

Huge thanks to Disability Advocacy for clearing the air and debunking the recent rumors regarding NDIS providers in Lakemba. Accuracy matters—we must ensure we aren't fear-mongering or spreading misinformation that hurts the people the NDIS is meant to support. Let’s stick to the facts.
