Fun fact: The eSafety Office might have had funding quadrupled, but there is no litigation budget to pursue the Tech Companies that breach the ban via court proceedings....

Outspoken comments by the bureaucrat in charge of implementing the federal governmentโ€™s ban have stirred up opposition to the scheme.

Your client needs it now. Your boss says it's urgent. And before you've had a coffee, it's already living in your body.

That's not dedication. That's someone else's panic finding a home in your nervous system.

Somewhere along the way we started treating other people's timelines as instructions. Their stress lands, we absorb it, and suddenly we're reactive instead of intentional.

This week I actually typed this in an email to a client who was running on a different clock to me:

Your urgency is not my urgency.

Not rude. Not dismissive. Just honest. Possibly a bit eye opening.

The irony? They were enquiring about a session on boundaries and priorities.

The biggest attention drains aren't always apps. Sometimes they're people, and the quiet assumption that their timeline automatically becomes yours. It doesn't.

Digital Nutritionโ„ข is about being intentional with where your attention goes. That includes deciding whose stress you absorb, and whose you don't.

Save this for the next time someone else's deadline tries to move into your calendar. ๐Ÿ‘‡

We taught kids 'resilience'. We gave them endless tech. Their digital skills are at a 20-year low and their mental health isn't much better.

Here's what we didn't do: ask them.

Not in a tick-a-box survey. Not in a student representative council that reports to no one. Actually ask. Actually listen. Actually change something based on what they said.

Young people are not the problem to be managed. They're the experts on their own experience. Co-designing solutions with them isn't soft or idealistic. It's just good practice.

The interventions keep failing because the people most affected by them had no hand in shaping them.

What would change if we genuinely started there?

The social media ban made headlines โ€” but your kids are still online.

Let's talk deeply and seriously about AI with people who deeply understand it. Not grifters and crumb maidens who are using scarcity and fomo to make you think the robots are going to make you a millionaire. Turn on the technology under your skull and use it. But also follow folks like and not influencers.

"Mum, that's cheating." Oooh, now thatโ€™s a curly one. ๐Ÿ˜…

We gave Claude the ideas ๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ already had - that she wanted to be a playground pal, that she cared about people belonging, and it helped us shape them into something she could actually stand up and say.

She added ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฏ flourishes. We were not late for school. Everyone won*

This is what using AI ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ต๐˜ฉ your kids looks like. Not doing it for them. Not handing them a finished product and walking away. But sitting alongside them, using their words and their values as the input, and letting the tool do the heavy lifting on the scaffolding.

Is it cheating? I'd call it knowing how to use your resources - which I believe is a life skill worth modelling.

How are you using AI with your kids?
