Dr Adam Samuels will present on ActivControl®️ Technology and MyDay®️ MiSight®️ 1 day, focusing on the evidence behind contemporary myopia management approaches, identifying children at risk of myopic progression, and practical considerations when initiating treatment. The session will provide clinicians with practical strategies for prescribing and managing MyDay®️ MiSight®️ 1 day, with a focus on optimising patient selection, treatment implementation and successful clinical outcomes.

Sheila Lam will provide an introduction to orthokeratology (Ortho-K), covering the fundamental principles and mechanisms of Ortho-K and its role in myopia management. The session will explore appropriate patient selection, basic fitting and assessment principles, follow-up considerations, common fitting challenges and practical troubleshooting strategies.

Clinicians will gain practical guidance on incorporating Ortho-K and other contact lens-based myopia management approaches into everyday clinical practice.

This interactive session will provide evidence-informed, clinically relevant approaches to contact lens-based myopia management, with a focus on translating current evidence into practical strategies for patient selection, prescribing, fitting, follow-up and ongoing management.

Calling all therapeutically-endorsed optometrists! 👀✨

Young Optometrists is running another Therapeutics Study Session for UNSW 5th year students, and we’d love your help to make it happen.

📋 How it works: Each facilitator gets one prepared case with questions and answers. Small groups of students rotate through, spending 30 minutes on each case.

📅 When and where: A Saturday or Sunday in November, either in person at the UNSW Optometry Clinic or on Zoom (details to be confirmed). It usually runs 4 to 5 hours, with lunch included.

💙 Why join: It’s a great way to mentor students heading into their therapeutics orals and give back to the profession.

Last Monday, we had the pleasure of hosting a Lacrimal Workshop with Dr Kenny Chan and the team at Central Sydney Eye Surgeons

This workshop was a long time in the making, sparked by a topic our members wanted to learn more about. We’re so grateful to Dr Chan and his team for sharing their expertise and helping us create such an intimate and interactive evening of learning and discussion.

A big thank you also to Mivision and Todd Tai for capturing the evening and contributing the eye chart raffle prize, and to our patron supporter CooperVision for helping make this event possible.
