Central and Eastern Sydney PHN

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN They also aim to improve coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is a not-for-profit, regionally based primary health care organisation working with local GPs, Allied Health and community health care providers. About us
Primary health networks (PHNs) have been established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for individuals, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes. O

ur vision
Our vision is supporting, strengthening and shaping a world class, person-centred primary health care system. We work to achieve this by working directly with all key players including general practitioners, allied health, nurses, secondary care providers, local health districts and hospital networks, local communities and non-government organisations to ensure improved health outcomes for people living and working in our region

Our region, our community
The Central and Eastern Sydney catchment spans 632 square kilometres. Our region stretches from Strathfield to Sutherland and as far east as Bondi. We are the second largest of the 31 primary health networks across Australia by population, with more than 1.4 million individuals residing in our region. The region encompasses 16 local government areas as well as Lorde Howe Island. Our region aligns with South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Sydney Local Health District boundaries

Thank you to everyone who joined us online for the 2026 CESPHN Strategy Workshop. It was fantastic to bring together stakeholders from across our region to explore two key priorities shaping the future of primary health care:

👉 Health misinformation – with an immunisation focus
👉 Community Aged Care

Across the afternoon, participants shared insights, challenges and opportunities that will directly strengthen trust, improve care pathways, and support better health outcomes for the communities we serve.

A huge thank you to the 90+ speakers, facilitators and attendees for your thoughtful engagement and commitment to shaping a stronger, more connected primary health system.

Great to welcome Assistant Secretary David Laffan to the newly opened headspace Ashfield, a service commissioned by CESPHN to support young people across our region.

David met with the team, toured the centre and heard how young people are supported when accessing care. The visit highlighted youth‑focused initiatives such as the book club and the upcoming Youth LGBTQI+ Careers Expo, as well as the opportunities created through the headspace Plus model to expand access to mental health support.

A big thank you to the headspace Ashfield team for their warm welcome and for the incredible work they do every day to support young people.

Needle-Free Flu Protection Now Available for Kids and Adolescents

A free nasal flu vaccine is now available in NSW for children and adolescents aged 2–17 years, offering a quick, needle‑free way to stay protected this winter. Delivered as a gentle spray in each nostril, it has been used safely overseas for decades.

Flu is often underestimated; healthy children can become critically unwell from influenza. Since 2022, around 10,000 children have been hospitalised, with some requiring intensive care.

Vaccination can reduce hospitalisations by around 50%.

With multiple flu strains circulating and severity unpredictable each season, experts say vaccination remains the best defence.

Flu vaccination is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over.

Book your child’s flu vaccination with a registered provider – GP or pharmacist.

Enter your suburb to find Influenza (Flu) Vaccine services near you.
