Janet took the Push Up Challenge with her to the Central Coast and made sure a weekend away wasn't going to stop her hitting her reps. 🎂💪

Safe to say she's committed!

Todd started doing a few push-ups for the Push-Up Challenge...
A couple of our youngest visitors decided to join him. 😄💪
Safe to say they brought plenty of enthusiasm and made everyone's day a little brighter.
Sometimes the best moments in the clinic are the ones you don't plan for. ❤️

And we're off! Day 1 of the Push Up Challenge. Todd is leading the charge.

💪 We’re taking on The Push-Up Challenge!💪

This June, the JBS team is joining Australia’s largest mental health and fitness event to help raise awareness and start important conversations about mental health.

The challenge is simple: complete 3,037 push-ups over 24 days, with each push-up representing a life lost to su***de in Australia. Along the way, we’ll be learning, sharing and pushing for better mental health together.

At JBS Physio & Rehab, we know that physical health and mental wellbeing go hand in hand. That’s why we’re proud to be part of a movement that encourages connection, exercise, education and support for those who may be struggling.

Follow our journey, cheer us on, and if you'd like to support the cause, we'd love to have you involved. Check out the Push Up Challenge link below👇

Persistent tendon or heel pain that just won’t settle?

Shockwave therapy may help!
Radial Shockwave Therapy works by delivering pressure waves into the affected tissue to stimulate a local inflammatory and healing response. This can help improve blood flow, reduce pain sensitivity and promote tissue repair in chronic injuries that haven’t fully responded to other treatments.

Shockwave can be beneficial for conditions such as:
▪️ Plantar heel pain
▪️ Achilles tendinopathy
▪️ Tennis elbow
▪️ Gluteal tendinopathy

Shockwave works best alongside a tailored strengthening and rehabilitation program to help improve tendon capacity, function and long-term outcomes.

If you’ve been dealing with a stubborn injury that isn’t improving, chat to our physio team to see whether shockwave therapy may be suitable for you.

🦴 Strength Training & Bone Health 💪

Been told you have osteopenia or osteoporosis?

Many people become afraid to exercise — especially lifting weights.

But research shows the right type of strength training is one of the BEST ways to support bone health.

✅ Improve bone density
✅ Build strength
✅ Reduce falls & fracture risk
✅ Move with more confidence

In our latest blog, we explain:
• Why bones respond to load
• Why walking alone may not be enough
• What the research says
• How to exercise safely

At JBS Physio, our Bone Strong classes provide supervised, evidence-based training in a supportive environment.

Assisted pogos = a simple way to reintroduce plyometrics in rehab 👟

When athletes aren’t ready for full bodyweight spring-based loading, assisted variations can help bridge the gap.

By reducing load through the lower limbs, these drills allow athletes to build confidence, improve movement quality, and gradually increase exposure to repeated ground contacts — with less irritation.

Benefits include:
▪️ Improving ankle stiffness
▪️ Developing reactive strength
▪️ Building rhythm + coordination
▪️ Increasing tendon load tolerance
▪️ Restoring confidence with plyometric movements

Using a powerband provides upward assistance to reduce landing forces, while step-assisted pogos allow further unloading through the upper body.

A great early-stage option for return to running and return to sport rehab before progressing to full bodyweight plyometrics 🔄

Bone health plays a critical role in how we move, function, and maintain independence as we age.

Low bone density — including osteopenia and osteoporosis — often develops gradually, without obvious symptoms. Unfortunately, it’s frequently only identified after a fracture.

The good news is that bone is living tissue. It adapts and responds to the way we load it, meaning there are practical steps you can take to support and maintain bone strength over time.

In our latest blog, we explain:
✔ What bone mineral density is
✔ How it changes across the lifespan
✔ Why fracture risk increases
✔ The key factors that influence bone health

If you’ve ever wondered whether exercise is safe for your bones — or how to stay active with confidence — this is a great place to start.
