Protein and Fat Loss: Preserving Muscle While Losing Body Fat
One of the biggest misconceptions in weight loss is that losing body weight automatically means losing body fat. In reality, weight loss can include a combination of fat, muscle, and water.

A higher protein intake can help shift this balance.

Research shows that diets containing more protein are associated with improved body composition outcomes, helping individuals reduce fat mass while preserving lean muscle tissue. This is particularly important because maintaining muscle mass supports strength, physical function, and metabolic health.

Protein supports fat loss through several mechanisms:
- Greater fullness and satiety, helping manage appetite and reduce overeating.
- Higher thermic effect of food, meaning the body uses more energy digesting and processing protein compared with fats and carbohydrates.
- Protection of lean muscle mass during calorie deficits, helping maintain metabolism and physical performance.
- When paired with resistance training, adequate protein intake helps ensure that weight lost comes predominantly from body fat rather than muscle tissue.

Are Most People Getting Enough?
For people who exercise regularly, perform resistance training, or are aiming to gain muscle or lose fat, paying attention to daily protein intake is very worthwhile.

Many people can meet their needs through everyday foods such as:

- Lean meats and poultry
- Fish and seafood
- Eggs
- Greek yoghurt and dairy products
- Tofu and soy products
- Legumes and beans
- Protein-rich snacks and meals spread across the day

Research also suggests that distributing protein intake across meals may support muscle protein synthesis more effectively than consuming most protein in one sitting.

What a day at Mini Mos! 💙

We couldn’t be prouder to be part of an event that brings our community together through movement, fun and achievement.

Over the past few weeks we’ve loved seeing so many kids join our Mini Mos Fitness Sessions, building confidence and preparing for race day.

And race day was fantastic! From pacing runners, to cheering from the sidelines, to seeing so many evolve mosman members, families and friends out on course, the atmosphere was outstanding.

What stood out was the community spirit. Kids challenging themselves, parents running alongside their children, first-time runners taking on new goals and experienced runners encouraging others.

A huge congratulations to everyone who participated, volunteered, organised and supported this fantastic event. We’re grateful to play a small part in helping people discover what they’re capable of through movement and to have fun!

What an incredible night celebrating 1 year of evolve! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us. We were so happy with the turnout and so grateful to have such an amazing community behind us.

Over the past year we've seen friendships formed, goals achieved, confidence built, and countless early mornings and hard workouts shared together. None of it would be possible without our members, families, and supporters.

Thank you for being part of the evolve family and helping make our first year such a success. Here's to many more years of training, growing, and achieving together! 💪❤️

If you're looking for a simple and effective way to tick off your weekly cardio goals, our 30minute HIIT class is the perfect place to start. In just half an hour, you'll challenge your cardiovascular system, improve your fitness, and invest in your long-term health and longevity. Key benefits of HIIT: Boosting Cardiovascular Health and Strength
Improves aerobic fitness. HIIT has been shown to increase VO2 max, a measure of how much oxygen your body consumes while exercising and the best available measure of aerobic fitness. This increase occurs across age groups.

Benefits heart health. Interval training strengthens the heart muscle and improves cardiovascular health. The periodic boosts to your heart rate during HIIT sessions promote more efficient oxygen use.

Boosts metabolic function. HIIT improves the function of mitochondria, tiny energy generators found in every cell of your body.

Builds muscle. According to studies, HIIT can increase fat-free mass, which includes muscle, by 1% to 3%. This is important for older adults who begin to lose muscle at increased rates as they age.

Preserves muscle power. HIIT helps maintain fast-twitch muscle fibers, which are essential for quick, explosive movements. This is especially important because fast-twitch fibers naturally decline with age, making activities that require sudden bursts of energy more challenging.

Fast results. Research shows that HIIT can lead to fitness benefits faster than traditional, steady-state workouts. A 20minute HIIT session burns more calories and strengthens the heart more than 20 minutes of moderate intensity exercise.
