As a naturopath, I absolutely believe herbs, supplements and treatments can help.

I've seen them make a profound difference in people's lives.

But I've also learned that healing asks something of us too.

When we're struggling, it's natural to look for the thing that will finally fix it.

The right supplement.

The right herb.

The right diet.

The right practitioner.

The right answer.

And sometimes those things are helpful.

But healing isn't something that happens to us.

Healing is something we participate in.

Because whilst support can come from outside us, many of the answers we're searching for are often much closer than we realise.

Sometimes healing asks us to listen to our body.

To honour our need for rest.

To nourish ourselves more deeply.

To set the boundary we've been avoiding.

To grieve what needs grieving.

To let go of what is no longer serving us.

To make space for what truly matters.

Many symptoms are not signs that the body is failing.

They may be signs that the body is asking for something different.

Not because your body is broken.

But because it is communicating.

Healing is not about fighting ourselves.

It is about learning to work with ourselves.

The body heals.

The woman participates.

The practitioner guides.

The herbs support.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is begin listening.

Sometimes the answers we're searching for aren't as far away as we think.

If your body feels unfamiliar...

If your energy has disappeared...

If life hasn't unfolded the way you thought it would...

If you're carrying grief, disappointment, exhaustion, or uncertainty...

Please know this:
You are not broken.๐ŸŒท

You may simply be in a season.

And seasons change.

The body moves in rhythms.
Nature moves in rhythms.
Healing moves in rhythms.

๐Ÿƒ

Sometimes what feels like falling apart is actually a period of release before something new can emerge.

๐ŸŒฑ

Not all growth happens in spring.

Some of the most important work happens underground.

Unseen.

Quietly.

Patiently.

Becoming.

I've walked here too.
Keep going.
Spring comes again. ๐ŸŒท

If this post resonates with you, please know that helping women navigate these seasons is exactly what I do as a naturopath.

You don't have to stay stuck here.

I came across a new term today, and it really resonated with meโ€ฆ.

We often hear about Post Traumatic Stress and even Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

But we rarely hear about Post Traumatic Growth.

And yes, we donโ€™t want to romanticise suffering

Trauma can leave scars.

Trauma can have lasting impacts.

Trauma can change the nervous system.

Trauma can affect the body.

But...
Some people also emerge wiser, stronger, clearer, more resilient, more compassionate and more aligned with who they truly are.

Not because trauma is a gift.

But because ๐’ˆ๐’“๐’๐’˜๐’•๐’‰ ๐’Š๐’” ๐’‘๐’๐’”๐’”๐’Š๐’ƒ๐’๐’†.

Because humans have an extraordinary capacity to adapt, heal and find meaning.

Growth doesn't necessarily make the pain disappear.

It doesn't mean what happened was okay.

It simply means that our story doesn't have to end there.๐Ÿฉท

Sometimes the very experiences that break us open also reveal strengths we never knew we possessed.

Sometimes adversity clarifies what matters.

Sometimes it teaches boundaries.

Sometimes it deepens compassion.

Sometimes it leads us back to ourselves.

Healing is not about pretending the wound never happened.

It is about allowing ourselves the possibility that something beautiful may grow around it.๐ŸŒฑ

I wish someone had told me this.....

Sometimes life takes us somewhere we never wanted to go.

The marriage we thought would last.

The family we thought would support us.

The body we thought would cooperate.

The future we imagined.

The identity we built our lives around.

Sometimes the path disappears beneath our feet and we find ourselves in a season we never chose.

A season of grief.

A season of uncertainty.

A season of questioning everything we once believed.

And when we're in that place, it can feel as though winter will never end.

As though this is how life will always be.

But healing has taught me something.

Not all seasons are meant to be permanent.

The trees do not apologise for winter.

The earth does not rush spring.

And neither should we.

Some seasons are for growth.

Some are for harvest.

Some are for rest.

And some are for becoming.

If you find yourself in a difficult season right now, I want you to know something:

So many women I speak to are exhausted.

Not because they're lazy.

Not because they're weak.

And not because they're doing life wrong.

They're exhausted because they've been carrying so much for so long.

The responsibilities.
The expectations.
The caregiving.
The mental load.
The constant pressure to keep going.

And eventually the body starts asking for something different.

Not more discipline.

Not more force.

Not another way to override what it's trying to tell you.

But support.
Rest.
Nourishment.
Space to breathe.
Space to listen.
Space to remember what you need.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop asking:

"How do I push through this?"

And start asking:

"What is my body asking of me right now?"

As a naturopath, this is often where the healing journey begins.

Not with fighting the body.

But with learning to work with it.

If you're tired of trying to figure it all out alone and would like support understanding what your body is asking for, I'd love to help.๐Ÿฉท

If prolonged stress can have such a profound effect on the bodyโ€ฆ how do we support it back into equilibrium?

One of the most important things I think women need to understand is this:

The body is constantly adapting to the environment itโ€™s living in.

Stress. Poor sleep. Overwhelm. Nervous system overload. Blood sugar instability. Chronic pressure. Self-abandonment. Constant โ€œpushing through.โ€

Over time, these things can profoundly affect mood, energy, metabolism, hormonal resilience, sleep quality and how we feel in our body.

Not because the body is weak.

But because physiology is intelligent.

The body adapts to prolonged stress in order to survive.

Which is why healing often isnโ€™t about forcing the body harder.

Itโ€™s about asking:

โœจ What would help this system feel supported again? โœจ What would nourish resilience? โœจ What would help restore safety, rhythm and equilibrium?

Listening to your body is often the first step.

Maybe you need more rest.

Maybe you need more play.

Maybe you need more nourishment.

Maybe you need to change howโ€”or whatโ€”youโ€™re eating.

Maybe your nervous system needs support.

And if you donโ€™t know what your body is trying to tell youโ€ฆ thatโ€™s exactly where deeper support can help ๐Ÿฉท

As a naturopath, this is exactly the work I do with women in clinic.

Helping them understand what their body is asking for and supporting them toward radiant mood, vibrant energy, and feeling great in their body again ๐Ÿฉท

Strong women are often praised for coping while their body quietly carries the costโ€ฆ so how do we change the narrative?

The woman who keeps going.

The woman who carries everyone.

The woman who pushes through.

Gets things done.

Keeps functioning.

Looks capable from the outside.

And for a while?

That works.

Until eventually the body starts asking for something different.

Because physiology keeps score.

Chronic stress adaptation changes things.

Sleep becomes less restorative.

Stress tolerance narrows.

Blood sugar regulation becomes less resilient.

Energy becomes harder to create.

Mood becomes less buffered.

Weight becomes more stubborn.

Hormonal transitions can feel rougher.

Not because youโ€™ve failed.

Not because your body is weak.

And not necessarily because perimenopauseโ€”or other significant life transitionsโ€”are โ€œbreakingโ€ you.

But because even strong systems arenโ€™t designed to thrive indefinitely in survival mode.

So perhaps the answer isnโ€™t more force.

More pressure.

More self-abandonment.

More โ€œpushing through.โ€

Perhaps itโ€™s time for a different conversation.

One that asks:

โœจ What does your body actually need?
โœจ What would support look like?
โœจ What would resilience look like?
โœจ What would it feel like to create a body and life that actually feel like yours?

As a naturopath, this is exactly the work I do with women in clinic.

Helping them understand what their body is asking for, restore resilience, and move toward radiant mood, vibrant energy, and feeling great in their body again ๐Ÿฉท

Some women have spent so long surviving theyโ€™ve forgotten what flow feels like.

Today, after months of drought stress on the farmโ€ฆ our tanks are filling, our dams are rising, and our creek is flowing again ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’ƒโœจ

And honestly?

It made me think about women.

So many strong women have spent years coping.

Pushing.
Carrying.
Overriding.
Holding everything together.
Living in stress adaptation.

And eventually?

The body reflects that.

Mood shifts.
Energy crashes.
Weight changes.
Poor sleep.
Hormonal chaos.
Feeling unlike yourself.

Not because your body is weak.

Because no system is designed to thrive indefinitely under depletion.

And perhaps for some womenโ€ฆ

the deeper goal isnโ€™t just symptom relief.

Itโ€™s creating a bodyโ€”and a lifeโ€”that actually feel like theirs.

Or perhaps for the first timeโ€ฆ

discovering what that even feels like ๐Ÿ’–

Because some women arenโ€™t trying to get back to themselves.

Theyโ€™re trying to meet themselves for the first time.

If your body has been asking for deeper supportโ€ฆ

as a naturopath, this is exactly the work I do with women in clinic.

Helping them look beneath symptoms, understand what their body is asking for, restore resilience, and create a body and life that actually feel like theirs ๐Ÿ’–
