World Mental Health Day | 10 October 2026

The theme for this year is: "Lived experiences heard: Real voices, real change"

This year, we highlight the importance of listening to and valuing the voices of people with lived experience of mental health challenges. By creating safe spaces for people to share their stories, we can challenge stigma, build greater understanding and support meaningful change.

At Bridges Care, we believe that listening is an important part of creating an inclusive community where people feel heard, respected, valued and empowered.

Mental Health Month | October 2026

This Mental Health Month, letโ€™s take a moment to check in, start conversations and support one another.

No one should feel like they have to navigate challenges alone. A simple conversation or a listening ear can make a powerful difference.

At Bridges Care, we believe in creating an inclusive and supportive community where everyone feels heard, respected, valued and empowered.

๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’™ Everyone deserves a place in the game!

As we celebrate AFL Grand Final Eve, letโ€™s remember that community, sport and celebration are for everyone, including people with disability.

Inclusion means creating opportunities for people with disability to participate in the things they enjoy, feel connected to their community and have their voices heard.

There should be a place for everyone! Whether youโ€™re heading to a local event, gathering with friends and family, cheering for your team from home, or simply enjoying the public holiday your way

Letโ€™s make our communities more accessible, inclusive and welcoming, so everyone can be part of the celebrations.

This Grand Final Eve, letโ€™s celebrate community and make sure no one is left on the sidelines.

Dementia Action Week | 21โ€“27 September 2026

This year's theme for Dementia Action Week is "It's time to talk about dementia". This week, let's come together to talk about dementia, build understanding and support those who are living with dementia in our community.

At Bridges Care, we believe everyone deserves to feel valued and respected, including people living with dementia, their families and their carers.

By starting conversations, challenging stigma and creating supportive communities, we can help ensure that people living with dementia continue to have choice, dignity, connection and a sense of belonging.

Inclusive Language 101: Words Matter!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Did you know?
1 in 6 people in Australia are living with a disability; that is 4.4 million Australians!

They all have hobbies, preferences, passions, and ambitions of their own, and they deserve as much respect as anybody else.

The language we use can shape how people feel seen, respected and included.

When talking about disability, itโ€™s important to remember that a person is more than their disability. Some people prefer person-first language, such as โ€œperson with disability,โ€ while others prefer identity-first language, such as โ€œdisabled person.โ€ There is no one-size-fits-all approachโ€”the most respectful choice is to listen to and respect how each person chooses to identify.

๐Ÿ’™ 5 Things to Ask Before Choosing an NDIS Provider

Choosing the right NDIS provider can make a real difference to your support journey. But how do you know whoโ€™s the right fit for you or your loved one?

Before you choose, ask:

โœ… Are they NDIS registered?
โœ… Do they offer the support categories you need?
โœ… Are their services flexible?
โœ… Do they communicate clearly and consistently?
โœ… Are they genuinely focused on your goals and independence?

At Bridges Care Services, weโ€™re committed to providing personalised support that puts you, your goals and your quality of life first. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™
