Thank you to the wonderful staff and residents at Bupa Retirement Village Sutherland for welcoming Dr. Andrew Trang yesterday for a skin cancer awareness talk.

It was fantastic to meet so many engaged residents and discuss the importance of skin cancer prevention, early detection, and regular skin checks. We appreciate everyone who attended and shared their questions and experiences.

A special thank you to the Bupa team for organising the event and creating such a welcoming environment. We look forward to future opportunities to connect with and support the community.

On behalf of everyone at Shire Skin Cancer Doctors, we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Professor Richard Scolyer AO. 🙏

Professor Scolyer was an extraordinary clinician, researcher, and advocate whose contributions to melanoma diagnosis, treatment, and research have transformed the lives of countless patients around the world. As skin cancer doctors, we admired and looked up to his dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to improving outcomes for those affected by melanoma.

His pioneering work through the Melanoma Institute Australia helped revolutionise melanoma care and provided hope where little previously existed. His influence extended far beyond research and medicine; he inspired generations of clinicians, researchers, and patients through his leadership, humility, and courage.

Even while facing his own illness, Professor Scolyer continued to advance medical knowledge and inspire others with remarkable strength and determination. His legacy will endure through the lives he saved, the scientific advances he championed, and the many healthcare professionals who continue to follow the path he helped create.

Our thoughts are with his wife Katie, his children, colleagues, friends, and the entire melanoma community at this difficult time.

☀️🧴SKIN CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

As part of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we were proud to take part in multiple community events across The Shire, all focused on raising awareness about the importance of knowing your own skin and looking out for one another when it comes to skin cancer.

Throughout the month, we were fortunate to be involved in:
• Classic Car Talk at Cronulla RSL
• Relay For Life alongside Brett from Peak Health and the Fight Back Team in Cronulla
• A community education session at Donald Robinson Village

A special thank you to our clinic director, Dr Andrew Trang, for generously giving his time to share valuable insights into the different types of skin cancer, the importance of early detection, and practical ways to help prevent skin cancer through sun-safe habits and regular skin checks.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Brett and the team at Peak Health for their ongoing support and commitment to community health.

Thank you to Donald Robinson Village for the kind invitation and warm welcome into your community, and to the Classic Car group for inviting us along and allowing us to meet so many wonderful car enthusiasts.
