World Duchenne Awareness Day is held on the 7th of September.
This day is to raise awareness about Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy and promote access to care, support, and other resources.
The 2026 theme is "Access Changes Lives", which highlights the need for equitable access to diagnosis, multidisciplinary care, services and therapies.
Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy are X-linked recessive disorders caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene.
