The countdown is on 🙈

In just 8 weeks we embark on the City 2 Surf with Des 🚶🏽

We’ve been walking the km’s for months now and are positive we can give it a good hot crack!

Perhaps the best part though will be sharing this experience with everyone that’s been involved in getting Des to where he is today with the c-brace. It’s been a team effort, and we are so fortunate to have amazing allied health professionals working together in our region to achieve big goals for our clients.

Something many people don’t realise: your body’s tolerance to GLP-1 medications can change surprisingly quickly. After a break, even a couple of weeks, people may experience stronger side effects if they restart at the same dose.

What this means:
- Breaks in medication aren’t “neutral”
- Your previous dose may not feel the same
- Side effects can increase if it’s not managed properly

This is why it’s so important not to guess or self-adjust your medication.

Always check in with your GP or prescribing clinician before restarting after a break, they can guide you on the safest approach. As an Exercise Physiologist, our role is to support your training, metabolism, and overall health, but medication decisions should always stay with your medical team.

Pregnancy Mini Series 🤰🏼

Carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy is more common than many people realise. Hormonal changes and fluid retention can increase pressure around the median nerve in the wrist, leading to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, pain, stiffness, and reduced grip strength.

The good news? Gentle movement and exercise can help support circulation, reduce swelling, improve mobility, and assist with symptom management during both pregnancy and postpartum.

In this video, we’re demonstrating a few simple exercises commonly used to help manage pregnancy-related carpal tunnel symptoms.

As always, exercise should be individualised based on your symptoms and stage of pregnancy - something an Exercise Physiologist can help guide you through ☺️

Cold weather can make motivation to move that little bit harder — but consistency beats perfection every time ❄💪

Here are 5 ways to stay motivated and keep active through the cooler months.

1. Start with just 10 minutes - Tell yourself you only need to stay for 10 minutes. Once you’re warmed up and moving, it’s much easier to continue the full workout.

2. Have a simple winter gym plan - Cold weather drains decision-making. Go in with a clear routine already planned — for example:
🏋 10 min warm up cardio
🏋 3 -5 strength exercises
🏋 10 min cooldown
Less thinking = less chance of skipping.

3. Use the gym atmosphere as motivation - In winter, the hardest part is arriving. Once there, use the energy around you — music, people training, structured environment — to help carry your momentum.

4. Dress in layers you can remove easily - Being too cold before training or overheated during it kills motivation fast. Wear a warm outer layer you can take off once your body temperature rises.

5. Track consistency, not perfection - During colder months, aim to “show up” rather than hit personal bests every session. Even lighter workouts maintain momentum and make it easier to stay active all season

MEET LILLY 🚀

Lilly reached out to us in February this year as she was interested in returning to the health and fitness industry. Lilly completed a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science with Psychology in the UK before making her way to Australia for what was meant to be a three week holiday - and aren't we glad she stayed! 🤩

Lilly has been working in Tamworth for the last couple of months, re-immersing herself in to the realm of health and fitness and this week is taking the leap in to teaching a number of new classes on our Quirindi timetable.

Find our class timetable in the link in our bio.

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting Australians, claiming more than 5,300 lives each year. While the risk increases with age, bowel cancer can affect people of all ages - with almost 15,000 Australians diagnosed annually.

The good news is that bowel cancer is highly treatable when detected early. Lifestyle factors such as physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol intake, and consuming adequate calcium and dairy products may help reduce risk. Regular screening and surveillance also play a vital role in early detection and prevention.

Research suggests that up to 61% of bowel cancer cases may be preventable through a combination of screening and healthy lifestyle choices. Small changes can make a big difference - move more, sit less, eat well, and stay proactive about your health 🏃‍♀️
