Today is World Spinal Cord Injury Day, and there’s no better way to mark it than celebrating one of our incredible clients who has just returned to barrel racing, her BIG goal. 👊🐎

From spinal cord injury to horse riding, running and jumping in just over 12 months.
But her story isn’t about a timeline or a particular outcome. No two spinal cord injuries or recovery journeys are the same.
For some, recovery may mean regaining significant function. For others, it may mean gaining independence in different ways, adapting to permanent changes, managing ongoing symptoms or finding new ways to do the things that matter most to them.
For this young rider, rehabilitation has been anything but a straight line. There have been hard days, setbacks, doubt and plenty of times when she’s had to pull back, modify what she was doing and be patient with her body.
Progress hasn’t always meant pushing harder. Sometimes it meant slowing down, changing the plan, giving things time and trusting the process.
And through it all, she kept showing up. She adapted, worked through the challenges, celebrated the wins and kept her sights on what mattered to her.
That’s why seeing her back in the arena means so much. Not because there’s one “right” version of recovery, but because this was her goal and she never stopped working towards it. 🤜🐎
We’re incredibly proud of the commitment, courage and consistency she’s shown throughout her journey, alongside our neuro skilled physio and EP team.
Here’s to doing the things that matter to you. 💪

Will and Alyssa had so much fun creating slime in their latest session! 🧪💚

Slime is a fantastic therapeutic activity that can help build hand strength, support sensory processing and promote emotional regulation through hands-on, multi-sensory play. 🙌✨

What if “Senior OT” actually meant senior?
There are plenty of roles out there with Senior in the title. We think the difference is what you actually get to do with it.

At Compass Allied Health in Tamworth, we’re looking for an experienced OT to join our team and work alongside our existing Senior OT to lead and shape our growing OT service.

This isn’t a role where you’re given a full clinical caseload and asked to squeeze leadership into whatever time is left. Instead, you’ll have a manageable clinical caseload alongside dedicated time for mentoring, clinical leadership and service development.

If you’re an experienced OT who enjoys clinical work but is ready to have more influence, more ownership and more say in how a rural service develops, this could be worth a conversation.

We’re continuing our celebration of our amazing Speechies! ✨

Speech Pathologists play such an important role in helping people connect, participate, make choices and live life on their terms.

🤝 Support inclusion by reducing communication barriers and improving access to everyday participation.

🗣️ Support choice by helping people express their preferences, make decisions and communicate what matters to them.

🌏 Support participation across health, education, work and community settings.

💙 Support wellbeing by strengthening communication and swallowing outcomes that contribute to quality of life.

Because communication is about so much more than words, it’s about connection, choice, confidence and being part of the world around us. 🥰

A huge shoutout to our incredible Speech Pathology team for the difference they make every day! 👏💙

“After all… we do play professionally.” 😜🎲🧸

Who said Speech Pathology was all work and no play?! Our Speechies know that play is powerful. Play is how we connect, build skills, practise communication and, most importantly, have fun! 🥰

This week, we’re celebrating our wonderful Speechies and the incredible difference they make every day! 💙

Speech pathology is so much more than speech. Our Speech Pathologists support people to:

💬 Build and maintain relationships by strengthening communication in ways that work for each individual.

📚 Support learning by developing the language, literacy and communication skills needed to participate and thrive across education settings.

🌱 Grow confidence and independence by supporting communication skills that develop and grow throughout life.

Every voice, every way of communicating and every little achievement matters. 🥰
