It’s not a virus and it’s not your regular bacteria – it’s a mycoplasma, it takes up residence in your lungs and respiratory tract, and it is currently in our community.
Sometimes called ‘walking pneumonia’ because after the initial acute symptoms it lingers for months leaving you with a persistent cough and tiredness.
So, if you or someone you know has been hit hard with a respiratory infection that comes up negative for all the viral culprits it might be worth talking to your Doctor about getting tested. This will get you the right treatment from the get-go and on the way to a faster recovery.

Beware of JEV this Easter, especially if you are traveling away from the Lower Hunter.
Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito borne virus that can cause serious illness. It is on the increase across NSW.
Check the link to see if you are traveling to a high risk area for JEV (https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/jevaccine ). If so, you are eligible for vaccination subsidised by NSW Health.
Call our pharmacy today for advice or to make an appointment for your vaccination.

Vaccination is recommended for those at highest risk. Once fully vaccinated, it can take between 2 to 4 weeks for your body to develop a protective immune response to the disease, so if you’re eligible, you should get vaccinated as soon as possible.
