Depression, what is it?๐Ÿค” Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions. Whilst everyone feels low, sad or lacking in energy from time to time, people with depression experience these feelings more intensely and for longer periods of time. During an episode of depression, a person might find it hard to carry on with normal daily tasks. A person with depression may have recurring negative thoughts, which may be suicidal thoughts, or thoughts of distress and anxiety. For more information about Depression, visit the Health Direct website: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/depression. For help and support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

October is Mental Health Awareness Month. ๐Ÿ’š The main aim of Mental Health Awareness Month is to improve community awareness of mental health and wellbeing. The key objectives of mental health awareness month are to encourage open conversations, increase access to resources, and remove stigma in every setting. By creating an environment where mental health is discussed without judgement, people feel more empowered to seek help when they need it. Here are some little mental health reminders to help start your month. ๐Ÿซถ We hope that during this month everyone can find time to practice self-care and check-in with their friends, family and colleagues.
