🌿 Something exciting is taking shape at Yerrinbool… 🐴

We’ve been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on our new Thrive in Thought clinic at Yerrinbool, and we’re getting so close to seeing the vision come together!

What started as a shipping container, a patch of dirt and a lot of ideas is slowly becoming a welcoming, functional and unique therapeutic space surrounded by bushland, animals and nature. 🌱

Our Yerrinbool location is being created with connection, regulation and accessibility in mind — a space where therapy doesn’t have to look or feel like sitting in a traditional clinical room.

Alongside our clinic space, the property will allow us to incorporate equine-assisted activities, outdoor therapeutic work, sensory experiences and nature-based approaches, creating more opportunities to meet our clients where they are.

There have been plenty of long days, dirt, rocks, landscaping, building and problem-solving to get here… but seeing it finally come together makes it very worth it. 💚

We can’t wait to show you the finished space — we’re nearly there!

TERM 3 SCHOOL HOLIDAY CLOSURE 🌿

After another busy term, the Thrive in Thought team will be taking a short break over the Term 3 school holidays to rest, recharge and reset.

Our regular services will be closed from Monday 28th September to Monday 12th October, with normal services resuming on Tuesday 13th October 2026.

Please note that clients who already have a pre-arranged appointment during this period will still be seen as scheduled. If you have an existing appointment, there is no need to make any changes unless you hear directly from your clinician.

Taking time to recharge allows our team to return refreshed and ready to continue providing thoughtful, compassionate and neuro-affirming support to our clients, families and community.

Thank you to all of our wonderful clients, families, support coordinators, providers and community partners for your continued support throughout Term 3. We look forward to seeing you again in Term 4!

Legacy Week | A Cause Very Close to Our Hearts

Legacy Week holds a particularly special meaning for our family and for Thrive in Thought.

My son, Luca, is a Legatee — one of the children supported by Legacy and the incredible community that surrounds Australian veterans and their families.

When someone serves, their service becomes part of their family’s story too. The sacrifices, experiences and impacts of military life can extend far beyond the person who wore the uniform, and sometimes across generations.

Legacy understands that. For more than 100 years, Legacy has supported the families of Australian veterans, including children and families affected by the loss, injury or illness of a loved one through service.

For us, Legacy Week isn’t simply another awareness week we acknowledge through Thrive in Thought — it’s personal.

We are incredibly grateful for the support, connection and opportunities Legacy provides to Luca and to thousands of other children and families across Australia.

FND is real. And the person experiencing it deserves to be believed. 🤍

This post is a little more personal than most.

I don’t just understand Functional Neurological Disorder through my professional work — I live with FND too.

I know what it’s like for your body to suddenly stop doing what you’re asking it to do. For your capacity to change without warning. For one day to look completely different from the next.

I also know how difficult it can be when something so physically real isn’t always visible to the people around you.

Living with FND has shaped not only who I am, but how I practise.

It’s taught me that capacity isn’t fixed. That rest isn’t failure. That independence doesn’t have to mean doing everything alone. And that sometimes the most therapeutic thing we can offer another person is simply to believe them.

FND can affect movement, sensation, speech, vision, cognition, energy and so much more. Symptoms can fluctuate, and every person’s experience is different.

So when someone’s capacity changes, we don’t need to question whether they’re trying hard enough.

We can ask:

🌿 What does your body need today?
🌿 What can we make easier?
🌿 How can I support you without taking away your autonomy?

At Thrive in Thought, person-centred practice isn’t just something we write in our policies.

It’s something we live.

As the founder of Thrive in Thought, my own experiences with disability, neurodivergence and FND have helped shape a practice built around compassion, flexibility and seeing the whole person.

Because you should never have to prove your suffering before you’re worthy of support.

Symptoms can fluctuate. Capacity can fluctuate. Support shouldn’t.

“I feel like I’ve gone backwards since my autism diagnosis.”

If this resonates with you, you’re not alone. In fact, as neurodivergent therapists, we hear you loud and clear!

Many late-diagnosed autistic adults notice changes after diagnosis or during periods of prolonged stress. Masking becomes harder. Sensory needs become louder. Everyday tasks take more energy. You may feel like you’ve lost parts of yourself.

But maybe you haven’t.

Maybe your nervous system has simply reached a point where it can’t keep surviving the way it always has.

Meet Bella 🤎

We are so excited to introduce Bella, our beautiful 15.2hh Thoroughbred mare, who has joined the Thrive in Thought Equine Therapy herd at Yerrinbool.

Bella is gentle, intuitive, and incredibly people-focu. Like many thoroughbreds, she carries both sensitivity and strength — qualities that make her such a powerful partner in therapeutic work.

Horses have an incredible ability to tune into human emotion and energy. Through connection, grounding, movement, and quiet presence, Bella helps create opportunities for emotional regulation, confidence building, trust, and self-awareness in a safe and supportive environment.

At Thrive in Thought, our equine therapy sessions are about more than riding. They are about connection, co-regulation, healing, and creating space to simply be.

We cannot wait for our clients to meet her and build their own special connections alongside her.

National Reconciliation Week 2026
“All In”

Reconciliation asks something of all of us.

This year’s theme, “All In,” is a reminder that reconciliation is not passive. It is not something we simply observe — it is something we actively choose to be part of through listening, learning, reflecting, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples every day.

National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June, recognising two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey:
• 27 May — the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum
• 3 June — Mabo Day, recognising the landmark decision that overturned terra nullius and acknowledged Native Title.

At Thrive in Thought, we remain committed to creating culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive spaces for the children, families, and communities we support.

Reconciliation begins in everyday moments:
In conversations.
In education.
In advocacy.
In genuine connection.

This week, we encourage our community to reflect on what being “All In” means for them — and how together we can continue building a future grounded in respect, truth, and unity.
