This photo was taken in October 2018, on the first day of my cosmetic training. I was 6 months pregnant. 🤍

I approached Mark with the idea, and we made the decision that whilst on maternity leave, I could start building a business whilst being a mum of 2. At the time, I had no idea what it could turn into. I just wanted to try and earn some extra money for my family.

I couldn’t afford the training with so many other things to buy for a new baby, so I asked my mum and dad if they could lend me the £5,000 for my first course. I think they were probably thinking, “Jesus, here we go again with another bright idea!” 😅 But deep down, I just knew I could do it.

Anyway, the point of this post is that I’m so glad I took a chance on myself.

I’m actually a really good nurse, and an equally good cosmetic nurse (it feels weird even saying that about myself 😂).

This job has given us the opportunity to emigrate and, more importantly, give our children options for their future. And that’s what it’s all about for me. ❤️

Oh, and if you’re still reading, it’s not about the money. It’s so much more than that. 🤗

Someone very kindly pointed something out to me recently…

They said they didn’t actually know my name and, more importantly, they couldn’t see my name anywhere on my business Instagram posts. 🤔

My initial thought was, “Isn’t it obvious? My business name is Ashthetics!” 😂
But then I actually thought about it.
And you know what? It’s not obvious at all.

Ashthetics is my business name, but that doesn’t necessarily tell you who i am.
It made me realise how important it is for you to know the person behind the business.

When you’re trusting someone with your face, your skin, your confidence, or simply spending time with them, I think it matters that you know who you’re talking to. Not just the name of the business, but the person who owns it, cares about it and is here to look after you.
So, thank you to the person who pointed this out to me. ❤️
It was a genuinely helpful reminder that the things that feel obvious to me because I live and breathe my business every day aren’t necessarily obvious to someone discovering me for the first time.
