Many of us have become very good at giving.
We give our time, our energy, our love, our wisdom. We care for others without hesitation.
But when it comes time to receive support, kindness, abundance or even a compliment, we suddenly become uncomfortable.
Receiving isn’t passive.
It requires presence. It asks us to soften our defences, release the belief that we have to earn everything, and trust that we are worthy of what life is offering.
I’ve come to realise that giving and receiving are not opposites. They are partners. When one is out of balance, the other begins to suffer.
The earth receives the rain before it can nourish the forest.
Our lungs receive each breath before they can exhale.
Our hearts must receive love before they can overflow with it.
Perhaps today, your practice isn’t to do more.
Perhaps it’s to receive more fully.
Receive the sunrise. Receive the kind word. Receive the helping hand. Receive the quiet moments of grace that life offers every single day.
✨ Sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is stop proving our worth and simply receive what has been waiting for us all along.
