You don’t always reject information because it’s wrong, sometimes you reject it because you’re not ready to receive it.

In the clinic, I often have clients leave a session saying “I wish my partner, my parents, my family could experience this, it would help them so much.”

And often, they’re right.

But the reality is, those same people may not be ready. They might be in denial. They might not want to admit they need support. And so, they resist the very thing that could help them. Not because it isn’t valuable, but because it doesn’t yet feel safe.

We only perceive and accept information at the level of consciousness we’re operating from. When something challenges our current way of being, even if it’s supportive, the nervous system can register it as unfamiliar. And what’s unfamiliar can feel unsafe.

So the mind steps in to protect. It dismisses, it downplays, it questions, or it avoids it altogether. Not because the support isn’t needed, but because a part of them isn’t ready to receive it.

This is where the work begins.

The Undoing You process isn’t about forcing change or convincing others. It’s about meeting people exactly where they are at, without judgment, without pressure.

It gently supports them to explore the parts that learned to protect, to deny, or to stay small.

As awareness expands, the nervous system begins to feel safer. And when safety increases, the capacity to receive support, truth, and change expands with it.

Because often, the things we resist the most are the very things that will move us forward when we’re finally ready to receive them.

There’s a piece of the mental health conversation that often gets overlooked and it lives in the body.

We’ve been taught to separate the mind and the body. To treat anxiety, stress, or depression as something happening “in the head,” while physical pain is something structural or purely physical.

But the truth is, they are deeply intertwined. Your body holds what your mind hasn’t processed.Tight shoulders, a clenched jaw, chronic fatigue, gut issues, headaches. These aren’t just random symptoms. They can be your nervous system expressing what hasn’t yet been felt, released, or understood.

This is where Somatic Therapy offers a different lens. Rather than only talking through thoughts, it works with the body, because the body doesn’t lie. It speaks through sensation, tension and patterns. And importantly, it connects directly to the gut-brain axis, the two-way communication system between your digestive system and your brain.

What many don’t realise is that more signals actually travel from the gut to the brain than the other way around. Meaning your emotional state is constantly being shaped by what your body is holding.

When stress, trauma, or unresolved emotion is stored in the body, it doesn’t just disappear. It can show up as both mental health challenges and physical discomfort.

Somatic work gently bridges this gap.
It allows you to:

- tune into what your body is holding
- safely process stored emotion
- regulate your nervous system
- create alignment between how you feel mentally and physically

Because healing isn’t just about changing your thoughts, it's about listening to the language of your body.

The missing link isn’t more thinking, it’s feeling.

✨ If this resonates, it might be time to explore what your body has been trying to tell you.

Outward anger can look and feel sharp, reactive, even confronting on the surface, yet it is rarely the full story since beneath it often lives something far more vulnerable... sadness, loss, rejection and unmet needs.

During the equinox, when nature is shifting and recalibrating, it’s not uncommon for bigger emotions to rise to the surface. What’s been buried or held together for so long can begin to move, asking to be seen and felt.

The process invites you to gently look beyond the reaction, without judgement. To get curious instead of critical. To explore the layers of behaviour and understand what your system has been trying to protect you from all along.

Because anger isn’t the problem, it’s the messenger. And when you create safety within yourself to listen, what once felt overwhelming can begin to soften, release and make way for true healing.

What if, instead of pushing away your anger or frustration, you allowed it to show you the grief it’s been holding?

The process of Undoing You incorporates elements of inner child healing. This isn’t about blaming the past or believing you had a “bad” childhood. Even in loving homes, there were moments when we felt confused, hurt or alone with emotions we didn’t yet have the tools to understand.

As children, we make sense of those moments by forming beliefs: I’m not important. My feelings are too much. I have to be strong. I need to please others to be loved. These beliefs are not weaknesses. They are protective responses created by a younger version of us trying to feel safe.

As adults, we often believe we’ve grown beyond those experiences. But many of our triggers, reactions and patterns are echoes of emotions that were never fully processed.

The Undoing You technique invites us to gently turn toward those parts of ourselves with compassion instead of avoidance. When we explore our triggers and the beliefs behind them, we often discover the parts of us we thought we had outgrown are still quietly seeking understanding.

When we unravel these patterns in a safe space, allowing old emotions to be acknowledged and released with understanding and compassion, something powerful begins to shift. The beliefs soften. The triggers lose their charge. And the version of you that once felt alone realises that they are finally supported.

In many ways, Undoing You is not about returning to the past. It is about freeing the present.

Before you scroll past the word "ADDICTION", let’s unpack it.

Addiction isn’t just substance abuse, it’s any behaviour that offers temporary relief or escape. In fact numerous studies show that addiction is closely related to ADHD behaviours. So addiction can also look like overworking, scrolling on a phone, emotional eating, online shopping, people-pleasing, needing control, excessive exercise, chasing validation. In its simplest form, it's a dopamine hit.

But here's the thing that society has all wrong, it’s not the habit or behaviour that needs judgment or fixing, it’s the avoided or denied pain underneath that needs understanding and healing.

Addiction is often a way to cope with unhealed trauma, buried emotion, or unmet needs. Unless we go deeper to address the root cause, removing the "vice" will just cause the behaviour to morph into something else, from alcohol to shopping, from drugs to controlling relationships, from food to phones.... you get my drift.

It's a topic that I'm deeply passionate about, not just professionally, but personally as it’s something I’ve lived with. I know exactly what it feels like to be stuck in cycles that numb, distract and protect, and then feel the guilt and shame of my actions, only to repeat the same behaviour over again.

The turning point for me?
When I stopped asking “What’s wrong with me?”
And started asking:
What am I running from?
Why do I crave this?
What feeling can’t I sit with?

Quite often these questions can be a challenge to answer truthfully as the brain can develop a narrative of denial or avoidance to keep us "safe".

This is why my work and purpose is focused on accessing and releasing the emotional roots stored within the body, deep in the subconscious.

I have quite simply become the therapist I needed. One that held a safe space to feel that inner connection, allowing me to really sit with my truth and create honest transformation, not someone who kept me in my head "talking" about it.

So if you’re ready to explore your why and finally break the patterns holding you back DM me or click the link in bio. Let’s walk this healing journey together gently, honestly and with deep compassion 🤍
