Exercise and physical activity is an important component of gender affirming care.
🏳️🌈
Gender dysphoria is linked with body dissatisfaction & as a result can impact eating and exercise habits.
🏳️⚧️
Exercise is hugely beneficial for health, but also to assist in gender affirmation including:
• Body composition: assisting with muscle growth (partifularly for those on TRT or who wish to get bigger in size), and to assist with weight gain, which can be a side effect of hormone therapy (particularly with ERT).
• Chest binding: Chest binding can impact rib cage and breathing mechanics and is a consideration for exercise & rehab.
• Tucking & pelvic floor: Gender-affirming bottom surgery can impact your pelvic region. Exercise and pelvic floor rehab can address pain during physical intimacy and urinary and bowel dysfunctions.
& so much more (swipe through this post to read some of this extensive list of benefits)
