From our Family Farm to your Family Table....Many of our customers have had our REDGOLD Honey and can attest to the amazing flavour. We are equally excited about our REDGOLD BioBeef, which is now available at the shop.
We use biodynamic practices and the cattle are bred and raised on pasture at our farm in Murgon without the use of chemicals, vaccines, bovaer or hormones, the cattle are grass fed and finished.
We use the cattle as landscape renovators; they have amazing capacity to restore biology and diversity to the environment. We move them through numerous paddocks at varying density and then rest these paddocks. The improvement is obvious with species coming back, such as a native vetch, Aeschynomene brevifolia.
As many customers know, we have Drakensberger cattle, an indigenous South African breed, known for its tolerance of flies, parasites and disease. 80% of Drakensberger cattle have the same marbling gene as found in Wagyu and Angus, so we look forward to many tasty steaks in the future!
Whilst I maintain a fullblood herd of Drakensberger cattle, Matthew is creating a locally adapted composite utilising Drakensberger, Nguni and Mashona.
