We’re excited to welcome Dr Sama Nake Akhtar as she begins consulting from Village Medical Centre on Monday 22 June.

Dr Sama brings experience from both overseas and Australia and holds her FRACGP Fellowship. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with particular interest in women’s health, pregnancy and postnatal care, children’s health, mental health, ENT issues, chronic disease management, and weight management.

She also speaks Hindi/Urdu and Persian/Dari, helping her connect with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

You’ll find her at the clinic every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Please join us in welcoming her to the Village Medical Centre family.

The Bone Bus is returning to Platinum Health Group, offering on-site bone density scans for eligible patients aged 70 years and over.

What to expect:
• A quick, non-invasive scan
• Results sent directly to your GP
• Convenient care, close to home

What you need to do:
1️⃣ Receive your eligibility letter sent by Platinum Health Group
2️⃣ Book an appointment with your GP to discuss and obtain a referral (if appropriate)
3️⃣ Book an appointment with the Bone Bus (online or by phone)
4️⃣ Attend your Bone Bus appointment with your referral

Locations & dates:
• St Andrews Medical: 25–29 May
• Village Medical Highfields: 1–5 June

Tuesday: Reopens with standard hours

Meet Dr Farhan Masud, now consulting at Village Medical Centre!

After studying Biological Science in Canada and completing his medical degree at the University of Queensland, Dr Masud has worked across Queensland in a variety of clinical settings.

He became a FRACGP‑accredited GP in 2024 and enjoys providing thorough, patient‑centred care for individuals and families. Dr Masud speaks both English and Urdu, allowing him to support an even wider range of patients in their preferred language.

Dr Masud has recently moved to the Toowoomba region and is excited to become part of the community while supporting patients through every stage of their health journey.

Platinum on North truly shone this year!
With 4,000 sparkling lights and stunning decorations, the waiting room was transformed into a magical Christmas space. A huge congratulations to the team for such an incredible effort! We hope our patients enjoyed the festive atmosphere during their December visits as much as the team loved creating and working in it.

And for a little extra Christmas cheer—last Friday, Dr Michael Gordon arrived to find every single item in his room wrapped by our mischievous Christmas elves! Let’s just say it made for an unforgettable day filled with laughter and smiles. Only the essentials were unwrapped so Dr Gordon could trade—absolutely hilarious!
