Access Support Services was super grateful to team up with the amazing Creativity Hood once again for another Creative Connections Day. 🎨

This time, we took things outdoors to Dan Gleeson Park for a fun day of nature-inspired arts and crafts.

It was fantastic seeing members of our community getting creative, connecting with others, enjoying the outdoors and, most importantly, having fun!

This photograph of Nathan Plaza was taken on the 3rd August 1970 by Alex Trotter just prior to its opening. The shopping centre was the first of its kind in Townsville designed to cater to the growing population in the area. It opened with the largest Woolworths supermarket in Queensland, 21 specialty shops and 1200 parking spaces.

Ross River Road and Nathan Street were both two lane streets at the time and it would be six years before the Kmart Centre was built. The first redevelopment of Nathan Plaza would occur in 1977 with the addition of another section containing a Big W store and additional specialty stores. This redevelopment would subsume the section of Patrick Street visible in the photo as well as the houses behind it.

Another month, another Access Support Services sausage sizzle! 🌭

We’re so grateful to everyone who came along, enjoyed some good food, shared a few laughs and helped make it such a great day. It’s always wonderful seeing our participants, staff and community come together!

It was also a great chance to get some feedback on our recent office makeover. We loved hearing everyone’s thoughts and seeing the excitement around our fresh new space.

Access Support Services was lucky enough to go whale watching once again last week, and we had an absolute blast! 😁

A HUGE shout-out to SeaLink North Queensland for making these amazing experiences possible. We were so lucky to see some beautiful whales, and our participants had the best time.

There were plenty of smiles, laughs and special memories made out on the water — and we’re already looking forward to doing it all again next year!
