💙 One of the things I love most about nursing is that learning never stops.

No matter how many years you've been practising, there's always new evidence, new techniques, new technology, and new ways to improve the care you provide.

That's why I'm so excited to be attending Juvae Cosmetic Collective 2026 on the Gold Coast.

This will actually be my second year attending. Last year, everything felt new. I spent the weekend taking notes, asking questions, and trying to absorb as much as possible. It was equal parts inspiring and overwhelming.

This year feels different. I have a better understanding of what to expect, which means I can be even more intentional about the sessions I attend, the conversations I have, and the knowledge I bring back to clinic.

For me, professional development isn't about collecting certificates. It's about making sure the advice, education, and care I provide are informed by current evidence and ongoing learning.

💙 Facial ageing isn't just about what happens on the visible skin we see on the outside. It actually affects multiple layers of the face, including our natural fat pads.

These fat pads play an important role in supporting structure, definition, and balance through the mid-face and cheek area. As we age, those compartments can gradually change in volume and position over time.

And importantly, the ageing process of the fat pads doesn't look the same for everyone.

There are 2 distinct patterns of mid-face ageing. Let's look at the first type.

For some people, the face gradually becomes narrower and more hollow over time. This is often most noticeable through the cheeks, but can also affect the temples and under-eye area. In many cases, this pattern is associated with atrophy, or shrinking, of both superficial and deep fat compartments.

Traditional medical aesthetics historically focused on artificially replacing lost volume. More recent advances in aesthetic medicine now also explore ways to regenerate the facial fat compartments, improve tissue quality, encourage collagen and elastin production, and support the health of facial structures more broadly.

Sun is not as harsh, humidity isn't brutal - best time to start thinking about your skin ✨️ Like fitness, skin transformation takes about 3-6 months to really take effect. 💙 5 cosmetic products I bought while visiting Korea (as a cosmetic nurse) in 2026

1) Acne patches: they are no longer just pimple-sized hydrocolloid patches. The biggest issue I had with previous acne patches was the fact that they had no UV protection. But these new ones have SPF layered inside them 😎 I also bought ones with EGF-infused to use at night.

2) All things Centella asiatica / "cica" / Madecassoside: Centella is the plant. Cica is the product category containing Centella or its derivatives. Madecassoside is the specific ingredient name extracted from Centella. Other ingredients derived from Centella are Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, and Asiatic Acid. These have soothing benefits & help repair the skin barrier. Best for mild sunburn, irritated skin, or post treatment.

3) Rejuvenex cream: PDRN cream. Not all PDRNs are the same. Rejuvenex is from the same company that makes Rejuran = the highest quality of PDRN in the market.

4) Hydroquinone cream: for hyperpigmentation. Not that Australia doesn't have it. But the cosmetic texture quality (= smoothness of the cream) is UNMATCHED.

5) Korean sunscreen: many Korean sunscreens use newer generation UV filters that have higher photostability, lower irritation, better texture (lightweight), and don't sting the eyes.

THE TREND ➡️ Advanced Derma cosmetics (as Korea calls it) is on the rise. Many Korean pharmaceutical companies are now jumping into the skincare arena. Medical grade skincare is where K-beauty is headed.
